Indexing not resuming

Last night Logos began to index. It was late, so I turned off the computer without giving the indexer any instructions (Pause, Stop). Now, with only 1% of the new indexing completed, the little Logos sign isn't appearing in the taskbar, though I've exited and restarted Logos 4 several times. What's to be done -- or is it indexing secretly?

First, if you turn off your computer in the middle of indexing you will lose your place. If you need to do something pause indexing and put your computer to sleep or hibernate.

Second, what OS are you using? Could the Logos indexer be hidden by the system tray?

It may have only been indexing the Logos4Help file that was updated yesterday, which wouldn't have taken too long, so perhaps it completed the process. Are you looking at the Indexer.log to determine it didn't complete?

    Melissa,

Thanks for your prompt answer! The indexer log I have has only entries from 2010. And last night before I turned the machine off, the tool tip advised me that 1% of the job was done.

I don't want to refresh the whole index unless I absolutely have to! The Logos version is 4.2a SR-2 (4.21.5.0905). I'm running Win 7 Home Premium.

If it doesn't complete, it usually restarts on its own after bringing the computer back up. It may have done this and finished quickly before it was noticed. When you open a Basic search panel, is there a yellow bar near the top with a message indicating that it is still indexing?  If not, and if there's no indexing error, and you get results for your searches, you can probably safely assume that indexing completed at some point.

    Thanks Kevin,

I don't think I'll turn off my computer any more with programs running! I'm running Win 7 home premium. I imagine the whole thing will straighten out (or is already) in time.

The indexing tooltip came up this morning but didn't last long. And the Search window in Logos 4 has a yellow strip on top talking about when the indexing is finished. . . So I think I may have dented the indexer.

Well, how many people can say that??

Could you check for a Logos4IndexerCrash.txt file in \Documents\Logos Log Files, and attach it to this thread? It should have yesterday or today's date. Thanks.

    Melissa,

I finally realized that the indexer file is cumulative, hence has my recent woes engraved in it. Thank you for your help, and here's the file.
