A Bone To Pick w/Logos

Ok, FIrst Im an avid Logos user. I cannot even begin to imagine what my Bible Study workflow would be like without it. I love Logos and Praise God for your efforts and pray for your continued success. I've also (like many of you) spent thousands of dollars over the past 5 (or so) years that I've been a logos user. So I hope my comments are taken in the spirit of "Kaizen" .
So... here goes:
1. The Hebrew Pronunciation Add-in.
- Almost five years since I placed it on pre-pub. Really guys?
- I ordered it on August 2007. And since have had (almost) no input from Logo's concerning it;s progress.
- C'mon guys. Tell us something meaningful. Blog about it. Keep us informed. Tell us of the challenges and milestones. We need this tool!
2. The Personal Book Builder
I purchased this tool on the old platform, bought a new license and now cannot use it in Logos 4. What;s the deal?
3. Logos for Android
- W-H-E-N? Sames issue(s) as #1. No feedback. Just a web page saying "we know...we know...were on it"...
- People are making tablet buying decisions NOW. So, should I buy (for example the Xoom and wait or will the wait be so long I should simply buy the iPad?) The cost of either is (at least for me) no trivial matter. So information from Logos would go a LONG way in helping me to make a decision.
3. Logos Telephone Reps
- Kudos on the filter options for the web site (i.e. for Christian Groups) as sometimes I want to know what the Authors theological belief system is for the book I want to purchase...before I purchase the book. Very Cool.
- But, since I buy a lot of titles via the phone, it would be nice if the Reps could review my library and buying habits and make personalized recommendations (for example "Mr. Davis, i see you have purchased several titles by Messianic Authors, have you considered [x]? [x] is an excellent addition to your library as it has the following benefits....")
- I love the personal service and absolutely love my rep (hey there Jim-Ray!), but I would absolutely LOVE personalized recommendations (books, sets, alternative views, etc.) based on my current library/buying habits.
Concerning these questions, I called a Logos rep. who was very nice and very apologetic at the lack of a viable answer. She advised me to post the group.
Thanks Guys and Gals!

Oh yeah, Double-Kudos on bring the Talmud to logos. I sent this as a recommendation several years ago. Good to see it's in the works. We need this tool in logos. Now, if we can just get that Hebrew pronunciation add-in....

It was more complicated than they expected. A post last year said somethings about this http://community.logos.com/forums/p/8810/71077.aspx#71077

Recently, Bob posted that it was well underway for L4. see: http://logos.uservoice.com/forums/42823-logos-bible-software-4/suggestions/509081-personal-book-builder?ref=title given that this was recently posted we are hoping that it will enter beta testing in the next couple of days but no guarantees.

Dan Pritchett tweeted last month http://twitter.com/DanPritchett/status/33938155841257472 that they've made significant progress. Logos has been reluctant to release ship dates because of how badly they've missed launch dates in the past. The history behind Libronix for Mac comes to mind.

I use Jim-Ray too, in fact just talked with him today [:)]. I think Logos is working on the website back-end to make stuff like this possible.
I agree that Logos is pretty closed lipped when it comes to progress but I if you listen closely we get lots of hints. I encourage you to surf over to http://wiki.logos.com/Logos_Speaks where a lot of the company statements on this forum has been curated.

Libronix for Mac history includes a tantalizing screen shot of work in progress that was followed by months before initial shipment. Personally not know if history will repeat; from PC, Mac, and iOS applications, do know Logos ships applications when usable that have features yet to be implemented (e.g. personal book builder, hebrew pronunciation add-in, etc).
If buying an Android device primarily for Logos use, recommend waiting until Logos application ships - verify Logos application works on desired device. With Google launching smartphone and tablet versions for their Android eBook application, not know if Logos will need two (or more) Android applications.
Keep Smiling [:)]

Preston, that was 3 bones. Or was that 3 bones? [;)]
Kevin has some helpful answers. It seems Logos is doomed if they do (answer) doomed if they don't. I have seen scathing threads where they had to postpone shipment 2 or 3 times.
But you were in no way scathing. Just frustrated. And I understand that.
I am kind of interested in seeing how the Android app will end up. Ihave been craving an iPad (notice we don't make fun of that name anymore) for some time now, but don't have it. Perhaps I might find I am tempted to go 'Droid. Any particular Android tablets you are interested in (to hijack the thread) and why you'd take them over iPad?
I like Apples. Especially Honeycrisp.

Thanks Kevin.
Great links! Yeah, I'm starting to see that even when they say it's coming. They still dont really say when it's coming. Oh well. I understand not setting a date if there is the slightest possibility of missing that date. Didn't know about the updates via twitter, etc. Good resources.
Thanks Again,

Why is Hebrew Pronunciation more complicated for Logos than other Bible software programs. Not sure I am convinced of that.
Personal Book Builder delay is also hard to excuse, or to make excuse for.

re: @Dan DeVilder
Why Droid ov iPad.
- Well, Flash, Front/Back facing Cameras, Open Source (I'm a programmer by day) to name a few. I do understand Apples reluctance to use Flash, I for one like the new html5 spec with it's use of the video tag, but they have yet to converge on a single video codec (politics & money ...as usual). plus the spec isn't going to be finalized any time soon. Even when it is, adoption rate will be slow (esp. Internet Explorer users).
- Here is a spec comparison on Xoom, vs. iPad vs. iPad2
Bones
- Your right, 3 bones. I could have made some delicious "Bone Soup" out of that post, eh?

cameras and flash and open source I understand. Specs leave my eyes glazed and my brain in pain . . .
But thanks!
