SUGG: Reading Plan by Chapter

I am so pleased to get the gift of the book 131 Christians every Christian Should Know in the crossgrade -- thanks again, that I decided to set up a reading plan. That leads to this suggestion: Could Reading Plan, in a non-biblical text, also use chapters/sections for divisions? I appreciate being able to skip the front pieces and index, etc. But to have an chapter of about 3 pages broken up is tough. I set it to be read in 131 sittings - One a day - I tho't would break it nicely. But some chapters are longer than others so it breaks in the middle. I know I could use the markers in the scroll bar to keep track of where I last read or memorize layouts, but if Reading Plan could do this, it would be nice. If I want to read through an encyclopedia or dictionary (e.g., The Dictionary of Paul and and His Letters -- NOT Oxford English Dictionary or the Encyclopedia of 7,700 Illustrations) it would be hepful not to break just at pages.

What if a book has a few very long chapters and a few very short? Do you want the division _always_ by chapter, or still to make "as close to equal as possible" size reading portions?

This is difficult because of the huge differences in the books; that's why we use verses in versified resources, "snapping" to chapter boundaries when they're close, and pages when possible -- at least they're likely the same size.

We're very open to input / suggestions / hearing what's important to you: sensible boundaries vs. regular sized readings, etc.

What if you could "play" with it. Suppose you had your reading plan creator window open on the left and your resource on the right. Then you selected from various options and as you did so the resource on the right showed read-wear marks in the scroll window. Or you could just put a read-wear bar in the reading plan that calculates based ont he selected resource. Come to think of it, it may be easier to have several Horizontal read-wear bars just below the Option sentence. That way the marks are spread out more and it gives you an at a glance look of what you'll be reading. I would do a different color for each month if it spans multiple months and weeks if its less then 2 months. Below is somewhat what is in my head.

Bob, I thought of the problem with too much variety of length. I guess I'm thinking if that is an option, you can try to see what works best. Pages is great for many non-biblical texts, but for devotionals or books like this one, chapters/divisions might be better. "As close as possible" would be good. If a book has a variety of length, then snapping to the chapter, when it is close, would be good. Certainly, breaking a long chapter up makes sense in many cases. But if a book has 13 chapters, and someone wants to read a chapter a day -- and says so by selecting chapters and duration of 13 days -- then make it a chapter a day. If I don't want it, I don't have to select it. Maybe a "force the division to fit" option would help?

Let me ponder this a bit. We've got a Chinook here in Calgary and I'm going for a bike ride with my wife.
