Recommended Hebrew Lexicons

We've heard opinions as to which Greek Lexicon is the best - would you kind brethren mind giving your recommendation as to which is the best or better of the Hebrew Lexicons offered thus far by Logos. One answer at at time please. Thanks!!!

Koehler-Baumgartner A Hebrew-Aramaic Lexicon is the current king of the hill. It has been able to take advantage of the more recent information in the field of Semitic studies such as the Ras Shamra finds. I'll violate your request for one answer and note that the venerable Brown-Driver-Briggs lexicon is still quite useable though it has the deficiency of grouping words under its presumed root. That shouldn't be too much of a problem with Logos, however, since a click does the searching for you. As noted, it lacks the most recent finds, but that isn't quite as significant as with the pre-Oxyrhynchus Greek lexica.

Gee .... one answer at a time. It just doesn't seem fair. For daily use, I go to Gesenius' Hebrew-Chaldee. It's considerably older and thus does not benefit from the latest (for which I use ANOTHER lexicon). But Gesenius is quicker to glance through for the patterns, and ties into a lot of older resources I like including his OT hebrew translation. Although I have HALOT always open, I don't often go to it unless I'm having problems.

Okay, I waited a WHOLE hour. The resource I use, to include more modern research, is TLOT. I just love it to death. What a great piece of work. Put it on the wall an frame it, for goodness sakes!

As you know, on some forums, when one hurls out a question, that one might get a reply in a week by one individual. Obviously, that is not the case here at Logos. I'm impressed!!!

Seriously George & Denise, I appreciate your expertise & suggestions. If you've got any further advice, I'll be listening - or is that - watching and reading!!! :-)

DBL Hebrew (very accessible)
Gesenius
Abridged BDB (free and more accessible than the complete BDB)
A Concise Hebrew and Aramaic Lexicon

G'day Bootjack...HALOT has to be the preferred Hebrew and Aramaic Lexicon for serious Hebrew study that I know of, yet I have to confess I still only have the print version, am yet to fork out the spondoolix for the L4 version...it is in the plans though for second half of this year [:D]

Without a good working knowledge of Hebrew I have found HALOT (in print) hard going though, but I'm sure with L4 and it's reverse interlinears I could get a lot more out of this resource.

As you know, on some forums, when one hurls out a question, that one might get a reply in a week by one individual. Obviously, that is not the case here at Logos. I'm impressed!!!

Usually when you get a whole slew of replies by different people in a short span of time (a couple of minutes), it's because it can take a few minutes to write up a response. When each person sets out to answer the question, nobody else has answered it yet, so they think they're the first one and are not jumping on someone else's toes. But by the time they finish the response and click "Post," two or three other people, who also had that same thought (gee, here's a question needing an answer and nobody has answered it yet, and I know the answer) have posted replies. If they all agree, roughly, that's a good sign you're getting good advice. If they differ, it's probably because there is more than one way to accomplish what you're trying to do.

Yeah, it's great that we have all these eager beavers on the Logos forums. [:)] I know of no other software forum where you can get an answer so quickly, and with such thoroughness.

I just saw that on sale at Facebook for $69.95 until the end of month. I wasn't considering it, but after those words I guess I have to. Though it seems to be on sale regularly, to maybe there's no hurry? Could you post an excerpt? Could someone else weigh in on its value?

In the lexicon section of wiki resource reviews, I included HALOT, TLOT and TWOT (will add more later). http://wiki.logos.com/Resource$3a_TLOT_(Theological_Lexicon_of_the_Old_Testament) has a screen shot and I used the same word for the HALOT screen shot for comparison. Agree TLOT will likely be discounted periodically.
