Christ is Risen! He is Risen Indeed! Alleluia!
Romans 15.13
13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.
Are you in Oz that you're a day ahead (or did I sleep through an entire day)? [*-)] I didn't get that on my homepage.
I didn't get that on my homepage.
Christ is risen! He is risen indeed! Krishti u ngjall! Me te vertete u ngjall!n Just back from the Vigil Service!
This afternoon in the children's group we learned the story of the |Emmaus Road. I had the easy ones - the boys drove my colleague mad! My girls were so excited filling in their take home sheets that they didn't even want to play games.
Then I went to the Vigil service at the Catholic church with 2 boys from a Muslim family, one a Believer, and possibly baptised into the Orthodox Church, the other a keen, if often disruptive, member of the children';s group, and oine of those my colleague mentioned as having been particularly disruptive today. They both sat quietly and angelically in church.
Our "Midnight Mass" was at 10, so at 11.30 we went down to the square in front of the Orthodox church, where they had the lighting of their paschal candle, and fireworks (mostly rockets, only one or 2 bangers) at midnight. After which we dispersed in all directions, and the streets were full of lightbearers (and some very frustrated drivers).
"Is it good luck to take your lighted candle home?"
"That depends if you have the light of Jesus in your heart. If you do, the lighted candle is a sign of it, but the light of Jesus is there with or without the candle. If you don't have the light of Jesus in your heart, the candle neither helps you nor harms you."
We pray that more of our children will consciously choose to accept Jesus' offer of a new Life with him. We are planning to have our end of session Easter celebration next week. Then a 6 week evangelistic programme, explaining sin and our need of a Saviour and what Jesus has done for us and offers us, and offering those children who want to know more about entering the Way of Jesus the opportunity to talk about it to one of us after the meeting and possibly then ask Jesus into their lives. We have several children who might be ready to take this step.
Christ is risen! He is risen indeed!
May you all experience the joy and power of his risen life anew and deeper this Eastertide!
Thank you for sharing, Nicky! *smile*
