Perhaps there is a good reason for this or perhaps it is something that is missing. It'd be nice to be able to select a reference range or a paragraph into a resource and have "send to PowerPoint" in either the print page or the context menu.

I don't know of any way to do this directly.
For Bible passages it is possible to get close to this by having a Copy Bible Verses panel open and set to "Follow".
If you have this set to copy to Powerpoint then it is just a one-click operation.
