Is there a way of seeing graphically how far 2 versions are different from each other in a verse/cha

I know there is a way to compare versions of a passage with Logos but I am looking for the colored graphical display that quickly shows how far apart/close the versions are.
What is the step by step procedure where I can compare the KJV and NKJV of John Chapter 17 and see the colored graphical display?

Yes there is.
Go to:
Tools>text comparison.
a window will open up...type in KJV, NKJV and hit the little blue arrow....
You'll see this:

I think you want a "Version River". Go to Tools->Passage Analysis. Select the "Version River" option. You'll see a box for reference, and a box for translations. Just type your desired reference (Jn 17) and desired translations (KJV, NKJV). You should get something like this:
Hope it helps!

Worth pointing out that this requires Original Languages base package or higher.

Thank you Rick, I thought the display of the graphic was vertical however this should do nicely as a start.

Were you thinking about the "Compare Versions" section in the Passage Guide? This provides a vertical comparison

Using passage analysis, I cannot create my own passage,, i.e., Gen 1:1-3 ?? Is that considered by the software a valid passage or ??

Graham, yes that is what I was looking for and now it seems to be working. I might have hit the enter key before I was supposed to and it went to Gen 1:1-31. ty

Glad it's working for you now.

RE Version River
How does it compare texts? If two versions say the same thing but use different words to do it will it notice that they say the same but in different words or will it say that they have nothing in common? And that the counts of differences are just counts of how many different words they use, yes?

I believe that in this case it will report that they are different not that they have equivalent meanings - in that sense it is a text comparison.
I don't understand what the numbers actually mean!
In the example below I am looking at John 11:35
As you can see the NIV is the same as the LEB - so reasonable shows a minimum difference of zero.
However, the NLT which differs by the addition of the word "Then" shows a minimum difference of 39.
As I say I don't understand what this means - hopefully someone can shed some light on it.
