Unable to Install on PC

After installing Logos Scholar, I clicked on the desktop icon and got
this message "Logos Bible Software 4 has encountered a problem and needs
to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. If you were in the
middle of something, the information you were working on might be lost."

Then I loaded the installation disk and I received the same message.
What is wrong?? How can I have this program run on my computer??

I uninstalled on old version of Libronix and uninstalled Logos, then re-installed Logos and I still received the same message.

Vanessa, can you tell us what your PC operating system is? XP? Vista? Windows 7?

Also, please try to start Logos while holding down the CTRL key until a pop-up screen comes up. If you get that far choose to open to a blank layout and see if it can do that.

Is your version XP SP3? Logos 4 will only run on SP3 (and higher, but there is nothing higher).

Yes. It is running on SP3. I installed an ASUS motherboard 6 months ago and installed the newest version of XP, I heard too many negative things about VIsta, so I didn't upgrade, or downgrade, depending on perspective

If you still have Logos installed, please enable permanent diagnostic logging: http://wiki.logos.com/Diagnostic_Logging

Then try opening Logos again and then attach any log files that are generated.

One other thing you can do is check under Control Panel>Install/Uninstall Programs and see what is listed for Logos 4. You should see Logos 4 Prerequisites and Logos 4. Look also for Microsoft .NET framework.

Don't give up. Logos 4 should run on your computer if it otherwise meets the minimum specifications listed on the Logos web site: http://www.logos.com/support/techfaq

I have all that you said to look for. And I have the system requirements. I even removed the program, rebooted the computer, then reinstalled everything but I still get the same message when I double click the Logos Icon on my desktop. Although, the program is currently installing on my office computer which is 4 years older than this one. Can you help me?? I can't figure out what is wrong with this newer, faster computer here at my home.

Cliff,

Without a log file it is hard to be sure exactly what is happening. If you can submit diagnostic logs that may help.

Having said that, one of the problems is sometimes a defective .NET installation. That has happened to some with XP installed, and perhaps on other machines, too. If that doesn't help, and you can't get any logs to upload, someone else may chime in here. Logos Tech Support probably gets a lot of calls about this and usually can solve the problems by connecting directly to your computer. If we can't help you, that should be your next call.

Posted Logos4Crash.txt file lacks crash information (yet presence of file indicates crash occurring).

Wondering if event viewer has some relevant error messages ? (especially near time of 21:54:37 on 2011-05-16)

WooHoo!! So far the problem is solved. The program asked for my Logos email and is now downloading Resources. Thank you Mark for your patience and tutelage. I ended up following the prescribed forum: http://forums.techguy.org/windows-xp/928680-latest-windows-xp-updates.html and read all the way to the bottom and followed the directions to remove the corrupt .NET Framework then re-installed using the suggested links. I clicked on the Logos icon and, poof, it went to a login page. Big smiles and jubilation overtook me and a yelled out a big cheer for my wife to hear.
