Changes in Syntax Search in 4.3 B5

I was looking at issues raised in another thread - http://community.logos.com/forums/p/33465/250372.aspx#250372 - and was repeating the search with Dominick had done

When I build the same search in 4.3 B5 I get the graph as shown below:

image

Instead of having details associated with each node visible on the screen, these details now modify the node descriptions. To get at some information, you need to look at the details tab as opposed to this being immediately visible.

For example, if I change the node "Noun 1" so that the morphology is more specific, the labelling on the node in the diagram changes to "Word+ 1" and I need to look at the details tab to see  the full information.

This is true in other databases not just Opentext.

I don't know whether this was just introduced in b5 but it is the first time I have seen it.

I also don't know what version Dominick is running - it could just be an anomaly on my system.

Is anyone else seeing this?

If so, interested to know the reasoning behind this. At first glance, it appears less useful than the earlier format.

Then if I try and reproduce the search using Cascadia (SBL) which more closely seems to relate to what is required in the other thread I find something strange.

My really cut-down search ends up as:

    image

this doesn't result in any hits even though I think it should (as below):

    image

What also seems to be strange is that the "higher-up" nodes in the tree have words associated with them as opposed to just being parts of the structure:

    image

The Adverbial Function is the word ὕδωρ associated with it - whereas I would have expected words such as this to be associated with terminal nodes.

I could be missing something obvious here (probably am) but appreciate any guidance.

Never seen that before! I am on 4.2b 4.22.5.1104

I haven't looked at this closely nor have I used it yet, but I can't say I am a fan of the format. Syntax Searches can easily take up a lot of real estate on the screen, and it seems this just makes the layout for a syntax search bigger?

What was the problem this change was intended to address??

EDIT: I can sure say without having all the information within the box as before, it's very difficult to tell what someone's Syntax Search is!  There is no real way I can try and duplicate Graham's search by looking at the diagram.

Maybe I am missing something, this really seems like a step backward in the layout of Syntax Search.

I think this is actually a bug, and that for some reason the "Show Details" functionality (the button next to the Search button) is broken.

Queries have a concise view and a detail view; in 4.3B5 it looks like only the concise view shows despite the view setting. I reported this internally yesterday as soon as I saw it, but don't let it stop you from re-reporting it through normal forum channels/etc.

Development is working on a fix for this bug. I haven't added it to the Beta 5 Known Issues yet, but I will this morning. Thanks.

It is not mentioned as a change in any Beta Release Notes, so I regard that as a bug, particularly as important information is hidden.  You cannot understand the function of this:-

EDIT:  just saw the other posts!
