This Beta is causing problems for me

The latest Beta is causing crashes / my programfreezes up and Logos begins to spin out of control causing the CPU meter to jump over 50 or 65 % - this keepsgoing on even after forcing L4 to close by means of the ctrl-Alt-del function.
both my Logos computers (PC's) are affected. I can't get any work done.
I'll try to upload a log file . Any ideas? [It's too late at night to go out and buy a Mac ]

I just tried logging in again and now everything froze before I could do anything.34604.Logos4.log

It is having problems opening a collection called 'Bibles (English)'. If you can, delete and recreate it.
Is the other PC also Vista and running the Beta?
EDIT: Hold CTRL key as you click the L4 icon and use a blank layout. Select Tools | Collections but do not open the collection; just right click and Delete. The basic query would be type:bible lang:English

I don't know if it is the beta or not in my case, but mine too is "frozen."
I was
'bible" searching (only other resource open was ESV) It probably was a mistake to have left it on "search while typing." I was going to type "love OR joy" but only got as far as "love O" but without the quotes when It froze. I rebooted and the frozen version returned. Am I going to have to un-install? or is there a less "scorched earth" solution.
AND if you get into a "frozen" state are you permanently doomed?

The crash log is old (Beta 3) and the other log shows a lot of sync uploads.
Start with a blank layout (hold CTRL key) and try an older layout/snapshot without that search.

Thanks so much Dave.
I had forgotten that old trick.
I am now up and running again.

Thanks Dave,
I deleted any suspicious Collections that resembled what you mentioned. That seems to have done it.
I am hoping this is the only issue. I greatly appreciate you help.

Problem lingering ... I just had another crash when running the Search with Analysis selected. I had to CTRL-ALT-DEL my way out. Even then - after closing L4, under processes I have Logos 4.exe * 32 still running and til I close that I can't reopen Logos. When this happens, my whole system becomes unstable and freezes up. [I may have too much on my C: drive - I will check this later; when I get time tonight]
I will close it and post a log file.
PS - C: drive has 27.9GB free/116 GB and D:drive 154GB free/329 GB

Ron, have you tried rebooting? You may need to run diagnostic software to help clean up windows.

Confirmed. I got a freeze with Analysis search and my log resembles yours in continually uploading Preferences even after I killed the application in Task Mgr (also had to kill the process).
Had to recover by restarting with a blank layout!

Probably also with Analysis view. Best to avoid this.

Log still shows the error with that Bibles (English) collection! If you delete it make sure the other installation is not running. Let it sync then close L4, start the other with a blank layout and allow it to sync. Check if the collection still exists.

Yes you are probably right.
I'd forgot to mention that part but once into the program I set up the Bible search without the "typing" version and with the alligned rather than the analusis.
Thanks, Dave

That's strange. I did delete it. It doesn't show up in my Collections list.
I have re-booted, I closed Analysis View for now - though I love that feature and use it often. I will just have to wait for the next Beta and hope that fixes things.

There is a current case to resolve the problems with program freezing with Analysis view during some searches. I don't know at this time whether or not they will be resolved in the next beta.

Yes, most likely. I've put links to these threads in the case.

A case specific to the beta or L4 in general, because my r?se search only causes a problem with the beta.

It would be useful to know why this error occurs.
Also (from my log), when opening NIV why does this error occur
Error DocumentPositionFilter Expected milestone index for 'bible' but found 'bible+niv' instead.
This also happens in v4.2b.

I'd like to stress that I have the same problem with Analysis Morph searches in the beta but NOT in v4.2b.

This should be fixed in the next beta.
A workaround for the current beta may be to close the Search Analysis panel after each use, instead of reusing existing panels for new searches.

Here is my latest log file. It came from trying to run a search - Analysis Window. I think I deleted the earlier offending Collection. Don't know what is causing this now.
