How many Czech Bible Takers are there?
I must admit, I have no current use for a Czech Bible or study Bible. I know nothing of the language. My motive was purely driven by one factor...Library resource count. Any body else download the free Czech Bible?

Yes, I have. Partly because of this "library resource count", of course [:P], but partly also because I have some Czech friends and have been to the Czech Republic (mainly Prague) several times before - so maybe I might use a Czech Bible one day ... [:)]

I have also. I was ministering the other day to an elderly widow in the congregation at my Pastor's request, and lo and behold, she was Finnish!
How thrilled she was when I printed out for her - in VERY large print - some favourite sections of the Finnish Bible (also free from Logos!)
The same thing happened again about three weeks ago with the 97 year old mother of our Chairman's wife who (the mother!) very cheerfully attends Divine Service every Sunday -- my wife got her an fitting English birthday card, and I gave her a whole sheaf of VERY large print selections from God's Word in Finnish.
The whole family was thrilled! *smile*
so, who knows, I may be able to use the Czech Bible also??? If so,I'll be ready...
Also, I have the Russian Bible. All things to all men,eh? *smile*

I also took it for library count plus how could I pass up a free resource? lol. And now it served the purpose of my first post. Though I'm new to the forums, I've been a Logos 4 user since Febuary 2010. My library resource count now stands at 1,232. [:D]

I must admit I had the same motive (resource count) when I took a Haitian Bible available on a PBB a few years back. I never thought I'd have a need for it until I found myself in Haiti a few hours after the earthquake. At that point it did come in very handy even though I can't speak Creole.

Of course I got the Czech Study Translation. It is my main Bible, since the very day it have been published on paper. I got a few new users to Logos because of that Bible. It is actually really amazing thing to have that kind of fully loaded Bible with all of the thousands of the translation notes, indexes and references, all of that for free. Congratulations Logos. EDITED: P.S. And yes, I have also Finish Bible although I speak just a couple of Finish words but I have many Finish friends I am proud to show I have Finish Bible available, just in case. If possible I would like to have as many Bible translations in Logos as possible.

Thank you Philip. I appreciate that. I am planning (as soon as I have some time to do that) to write to all our pastors both in our denomination and other churches to let them know that Czech Study Translation Bible is in Logos.

I downloaded it, as I still remember a little Czech, though my Slovak was much better. I used to go often to visit Christians in Czechoslovakia until Albania opened up and I became sedentary. It was in Moravia (now part of Czech Republic?) that I first heard about Albania in 1969, 2 years after they'd closed all the churches in Albania. And a friend in Slovakia said that when in prison they used to pray for Albania as they knew it was so much worse here.
I tried to reply to this post last night, when I mentioned that I guessed Bohuslav would have downloaded it, but my ISP was on go slow so my message didn't get sent!

Yep.
For two reasons:
1. It's free.
2. One of my favorite restaurants used to be The Bohemian Cafe in Omaha, NE (though I heard that it changed ownership years ago, and is no longer as good as it was?). http://www.bohemiancafe.net/

Not wanting to knock the Czechs, bless 'em, but I imagine that not much Czech is spoken outside of the Czech Republic and Slovakia. A decent French translation, by contrast, would be a service to the vast number of French speakers all over the world. Logos users have been badgering the powers that be for such a volume for years; it would be wonderful to see some action!

In almost every case, that's up to a country's Bible Society or the like, not to Logos - as the Czech Study Bible is published by Nakladatelství KMS, not by Logos itself. There would be no Czech Study Translation in Logos without the initiative from our Czech side. Polish is spoken by more than 50 millions people and still there is no single Polish translation in Logos.
And, by the way, it is not either - or. I am trying to convince Logos (a couple of years already) that ALL (major if not all) Bible translations should be in Logos.
P.S. ...in the time of Reformation, Czechs got as one of the first European nations Bible translation from the original languages in their vernacular, the Kralitz Bible (1579) of the old Unitas Fratrum movement. You can get it from Logos. [:)]

Yes, historically there are 3 lands as part of former Czech Crown (kingdom). Bohemia, the Central - Western part, Moravia, South - Eastern part and Silesia (Schlesien) North - Eastern part.

A Killian's Red is good. I like a beer that has some flavor -- not that stuff drawn by the Clydesdales (you know that the Clydesdales are absolutely necessary for the production of their brand).

I downloaded it, and will be using it extensively in an upcoming preaching trip in the Czech Republic (where I preached for 16 years). My wife is Czech-born, as are all my children. I "inherited" her iPad not long after she got it (she thought she'd use it more). She saw the Czech Study Bible on Logos on iPad, and I think she wishes now she hadn't give it to me. [:D]

But I'm getting off topic here ... Good choice, you should also try our Silesian beer Radegast. It's as good as Urquel Pilsner (the only problem is it's name, which is the local pagan god of thunder name [N]). Budvar (Budweiser) is the best IMHO (the original Czech one, not the American one)... but I got really off topic here, I better leave the subject.

I like a Killian's Red as well, or even a classic Guinness (which, by the way, means supporting a company that has an interesting Christian history to it), but I prefer German and Czech beer. There's a brewery in almost every village around where I live, so I'm quite busy testing all the local sorts of beer first ... [:P]

A few years ago I was working on recording the new testament into an indigenous language spoken among some in Mexico (Huichol). I used Personal Book Builder to create a Bible in Logos that would scroll along with my English and Spanish translations. It was searchable. Utilizing this basic Logos functionality I performed the recording and audio engineering while native speakers (pastors) read. We also identified a number of areas where the translation could be improved, leading to a revised edition of the New Testament translation. This is just a simple example of the benefit of having an easily accessible and searchable Bible can do.
Logos, if you want to publish the Huichol Bible, let me know. :-)

Czech Study Translation is a new original translation of the whole Bible from the original languages (Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek). It is not some update of any older version of the Czech Bible Translation.
