How can I benefit from the Anchor Yale Bible Reference Library ?

I've read in the forums a lot of praise and enthusiasm for the AYBRL especially now with its soon release. I've looked at the book descriptions but I'm not clear on how they can help me other than intro's and commentaries. Some seem pretty esoteric. Thanks for your advice as I consider whether to order this or not.

    Most of the works are academicaly oriented and very highly regarded.  Given the significant cost, if the value is not clear to you, it would be best to pass on this collection.
