How to?

Ok, all you geniuses out there, this is what I'm wanting to do. It's probably simple, but so am I which is the reason I am seeking help. I am on a Mac, and have been using Pages word processor. I would like to - if it's possible - put my Pages on the left column of my Logos, so that I can quit switching screens to build my sermons. I currently have all the resources on the left full column, in the middle top is Bible, middle bottom is commentary. On the right in very narrow columns is info and text comparison. I use the info a bit, and the text comparison rarely. Yet I do not know how to manipulate all the columns so that I can retrieve the info quickly if I cover it up. And if I out the Pages on the left, can I still easily acces the resources when needed underneath?

On that same line, would the DVD camp logos be a good option for me? Is it organized to that I can at least superficially look up topics?

I'm afraid I didn't follow everything in your email. But there's a whole bunch of things you can do in Logos to help with this. THe easiest is pressing F11 (I presume it's the same key on a Mac) which temporarily switches to full screen until you press ESC.

you mean like having a note taking window from another app open and superimposed over Logos while you can still use logos and not lose focus and the other window doesn't disappear?

One option is resizing and moving Logos Bible Software 4 window so Pages can fit beside Logos 4 Mac:

Can use command-tab on keyboard to switch between programs on Mac OS X. In Logos 4 Mac window, floated text comparison and information, then dragged them to rearrange layout from using Home Page "GO" button" along with dragging lines between panels to resize. Screen Capture shows left edge of Logos 4 Mac overlaps scroll bar of Pages document. Also copied Light topic from New Topical Textbook and pasted into Pages document.

Observation: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard requires dragging lower right corner of window to resize. In July, OS X Lion changes screen resizing along with 250 feature improvements including versions for documents, which was demonstrated on 6 Jun 2011 => Watch WWDC Keynote

For forum posting, I sometimes have web browser open on same space as Logos 4 Mac, other times use different spaces with keyboard shortcuts to quickly switch.

I'm still not sure, I'm sorry. It's a terminology problem, I'm afraid. In particularly I'm not sure what you mean by 'Logos columns', 'page' and 'superimpose'.

But, what I think you mean is that you have Logos maximised in one desktop space (is this what you mean by 'page' and 'screen'?), and Pages in another space. But you want to be able to then move to having Logos and Pages side-by-side in the same space?

If this what you mean, you can of course just manually resize your windows when you want to do this and move Pages into the Logos space. But are you looking for a more automated solution? Or is the problem more that Logos panels become to small and a bit unreadable when you resize in this way?

Spaces had a different meaning over here. Spaces is a utility that allows a Mac user to have multiple desktops independent of one another (That is the way KS4J used the word in the post above). Also, I believe the Smiling One has answered Mark's original question.

2) Often it helps to include a screen shot of what you are doing. I found the following from a mac website:

Command-Shift-3: Take a screenshot of the screen, and save it as a file on the desktop

Command-Shift-4, then select an area: Take a screenshot of an area and save it as a file on the desktop

Command-Shift-4, then space, then click a window: Take a screenshot of a window and save it as a file on the desktop

Command-Control-Shift-3: Take a screenshot of the screen, and save it to the clipboard

Command-Control-Shift-4, then select an area: Take a screenshot of an area and save it to the clipboard

Command-Control-Shift-4, then space, then click a window: Take a screenshot of a window and save it to the clipboard

In Leopard and later, the following keys can be held down while selecting an area (via Command-Shift-4 or Command-Control-Shift-4):

Space, to lock the size of the selected region and instead move it when the mouse moves

Shift, to resize only one edge of the selected region

Option, to resize the selected region with its center as the anchor point

Mark, I am a bit biased, but I believe that most on here would agree that the DVDs would be a good option for you. The content is organized so that you can click on a topic and be taken to that section.

Also, I know that your layout question has been answered, but there are a number of "snapping" applications for Mac (a free feature in Windows 7) that allow you to snap your application window to certain areas of your screen. I have used Cinch in the past and now I use BetterSnapTool. Both can be found in the Mac App Store.

With both programs, you can snap your Pages to one side and Logos to the other side. Then you just adjust the windows in Logos to your liking.

The creator of BetterSnapTool has another program which incorporates both snapping and touch controls. Currently it is free.
