Some of us don't like facebook, we don't like having our information sold to the highest bidder and refuse to "trust" corporations who generate their revenue by selling information about us.

Does Logos care about the non facebook users?

How about offering promotions without facebook.

    Welcome David,

Does Logos care about the non facebook users?

Absolutely sure. On the other hand, through facebook and twitter promotion Logos encourages people to "spread the news" about Logos - thus generating consumer interest (even more so in the circle of people sharing common ideas, thinking, experiences, situations in life etc). The promotion is a sort of giving back to users helping Logos to do their marketing - which is relevant especially for a new platform like Vyrso.

I personally choose not to participate in the Vyrso promotion - everyone is free to make up their mind about it.

They do - e.g.  right now in the special forum week. Check it out!

    Welcome to the forums!

There's actually a huge sale going on here on the forums this very week. Go to the forum home page, make sure you're logged in, and look at the top for a forum called *** Forum Week *** (you can only see it if you're logged in). There you'll find plenty of offers that don't require Facebook.

Since I bought Logos in September there's also been a Black Friday Sale, a 12 Days of Logos Sale, a Christmas Sale, a March Madness Sale, and a Twitter Sale, none of which required Facebook (and I'm sure I've still forgotten something). Plus the ordinary Newswire offers -- which you can easily get by going to logos.com, checking in to your account, selecting Notifications, and checking whatever e-mails you want to get -- and the ordinary offers on your Logos Home page. And prepubs. And Community Pricing

So, all in all, Facebook is a pretty small part of Logos' promotions.

    David -

I share your distrust of Facebook, but I see it as a necessary evil.

As for your question, fgh answered well that there are many promotions which do not use Facebook. I have nothing to add to what she contributed. However, I want to give you some perspective to why a company like Logos would use Facebook to run a promotion. In a way, social networking can be like a snowball rolling down a mountain. It gains velocity and mass as it moves. Logos is trying to get a new Christian eBookstore up and running. They need the momentum that a social networking site like Facebook brings. A promotion (giving away an iPad) by using Facebook provides advertisement that Logos could otherwise not afford. Don't feel wronged if you choose not to participate.

For what its worth - I do use Facebook, but am constantly changing settings to maintain privacy. They regularly change their policies, which requires vigilance on my part.
