Okay, I give in...

The Forum Week Round-Up blog post that appeared not long ago says that Logos "hid an as-of-yet-undiscovered Easter egg." I've been searching since I read that, but I can't find anything anywhere.
Does anyone else have any ideas? Seen any suspicious activity?!

Alright, as I've stated in the off-topic thread, I took a glance at the source code for the main page of forum week. I'm not really the one to be browsing it, but I didn't see anything out of the ordinary there.
I'll keep looking in other places though.

The only thing out of the ordinary I've noticed so far is that Stephen's link to the post about what computer Bob uses gives an error message. I guess it's theoretically possible that he meant to change that link into an Easter egg link after the competition was finished, but something went wrong. Or that one time out of a hundred you do get the Easter egg from that link. But probably not. [:)]
Wait, there's also the fact that an image from that blog post seems to have caused crashes on Windows. Maybe the Easter egg was in the image, but Logos couldn't handle it? [:P]

Doesn't for me...never did in fact...wonder why it doesn't for you. (but never fear, there's nothing to this possible lead)

Probably because your link in the post looks like this: http://community.logos.com/forums/p/33729/255130.aspx#255130
but when it turned up in my browser it looked like this: http://community.logos.com/forums/AddPost.aspx/p/33729/255130.aspx#255130.
Works now, though.

Where, oh where, can it be?
- I checked the "Unread" threads. Nothing.
- I checked the "Unanswered" threads. Nothing.
- I checked the Logos employee roster (A bunch of them need to get avatars!)
- I added an item to my checkout and deleted because, Nope, you guessed it. No egg there.
- I even highlighted Stephen's posts to see if he used white text on white background like the keyword spammers do.
I think they have yet to load the Easter egg. (It hasn't yet been found because it hasn't yet been laid.)

Isn't the Easter egg in the post made by Todd Phillips in this same thread? Or do I not completely understand what everyone is looking for? [*-)]

That was my own little joke (click on it). I'm not a Logos employee. I have no better idea than you do.

Wasn't sure where to post this. But is this the easter egg? The text in Thomas Black's statement about his cell phone number and his office above Bob's, turns green when hovered over.

Hi Scott,
The term Easter egg is a term commonly used by computer programmers and software programmers that simply means there is a hidden surprise somewhere if you can find it. I don't think that we are looking for a literal Easter egg such as the picture that Todd posted. There is a secret sell somewhere in the forums, we just have to find it.
I am thinking that Stephen is dropping hints when he says "I'll keep my eye out...." and "C'mon guys focus". As an example, when he said "I'll keep my eye out" I immediately hovered my mouse over his eye in his avatar picture to see if there was a hidden link.

Peace, my Brothers and Sisters! *smile*
The closest I can come to an "Easter Egg" is the stylised cross that Stephen is wearing. I had to "stretch" him to come up with the cross. The Cross over the heart! *smile*

I don't know if Stephen's comments are clues or not, but they seem to be. My guess is that it has something to do with the Logos Logo:

I agree Alabama... Haven't found anything in the logo anywhere yet.

I thought that it might also be within Logos 4 itself - have there been any small updates recently that could have snuck something in?

I agree Alabama there has to be a hint in there somewhere. But after a marathon day yesterday, my brain hurts too much this morning to continue focusing.
I've read the source code to no avail.
I have decided to join the title of the thread and give in. Enjoy the hunt guys and gals.

That appears to point to the Logos logo (as suggested earlier) with the magnifying glass focussed on the cross. But there doesn't seem to by anything there!

Last shot.
Another Stephen Smith has mysteriously posted several times recently asking questions that are quickly answered. Perhaps this is a clue?

I may be clutching at proverbials here, but... Stephen said "I'll keep my EYE out" and "Come on guys. FOCUS!" Seems to suggest (if these are in fact clues) that there is something related to eyes, looking, focussing - which may (or may not!) refer to the logo.
Bottom line - I have no idea! [:^)]

Not convinced. Notice that when I listed two nutty ideas, just to suggest something, Stephen was quick to shoot down the first one (forums), but not the second (L4). Downloading an Easter egg to L4's Home Page through the very blog post that announced that Easter egg would be pretty ingenious.

It's easy to work out - the Logos magnifying glass focuses on the cross, as has been mentioned, and he gave us the clue of "eye" which brings us to "cross-eyed". If you search Logos.com for cross eyed you get.... dundundundun...

I guess I'm working on the assumption that every other aspect of 'Forum Week' has required actually logging into the Forums. If the Easter egg were in L4 then it would defeat the object of 'Forum Week' would it not!!?

Tom,
but where's the easter egg then, if you can put some words to a search and get a ressource as result?
The easter egg it would be, IMHO, if clues led to a resource that's free or heavy discounted if you use e.g. the code FORUMWEEK (doesn't work with the one you found and didn't work with an arbitrary resource I checked the other day - also, most of us should have the stereographic resource, it's in Base Packages and in the Minimal Crossgrade)
Maybe it's steganographically hidden in his avatar or his pic in the Meet & Greet thread...

In all likelihood you're right; I'm just not absolutely convinced. E g there could, theoretically, be a link on the Home Page that (provided you were logged in) lead to a hidden thread on the hidden Forum Week forum.
But that's probably just my brain working overtime... -- But, hey, it was my brain's working overtime that made it find a way to do a basic search on one Bible book when all the experts said it was impossible, earning me 30 bucks, so I'm not going to tell it to stop just yet. [:D]

I'm thinking that perhaps one of the "newbies" who posted in the Forum Week forum is actually a fake account created by Stephen for the purposes of hiding an Easter Egg and has a link in its signature (which would show up on any of its posts). Anybody feel like searching back through all the pages of the "Meet and Greet" thread for that? I'm about to leave for the airport, so I'm not going to do it.

I FOUND THE EASTER EGG!!!!
It was hiding in the Meet and Great forum, just like others suspected...
but upon closer inspection, it is obvious that this is just a clever ploy...nobody in Alabama would ever use Logos Bible software!

I don't think that is it...especially since that poster has a posting history. [:^)] It's not the sort of easter egg I would think they are referring to.

Alright. Figured I should jump in here before someone gets hurt.
I am not an coding genius, nor am I a genius in general....I could never do or think of some of the things suggested.
It was entirely coincidental that the words "eye" and "focus" have a related meaning. The first post was nothing more than me saying, "I've noticed this conversation and am thrilled that the mention in the blog post got picked up in the forums."
The second post was a hint, but not nearly as cryptic as some of you think....but look closely: it could definitely help you "focus" your hunt.
And the topics word cloud, Thomas? That was seriously pretty ingenious and hilarious! But I don't know why those tags are showing up....my guess is that very few if any of the posts in Forum Week are tagged but the forum software wants that field populated....just a thought.
Also, I don't suggest going through all the new posters' post in the Meet and Greet thread...there's over 200 of them that are 5 or less posts...digging through them would be so time consuming that I would feel terrible having let somebody spend it so unfruitfully.
For what it's worth: here's the definition (straight from Wikipedia) that I'm using: A virtual Easter egg is an intentional hidden message, in-joke, or feature in a work such as a computer program, web page, video game, movie, book, or crossword.
"Message, in-joke, or feature"
In a medium that doesn't necessarily require it to be a programming- or even technical-level "message, in-joke, or feature."
Finally, for clarity. I came up with. I did it. It's not the result of a Google-like brainstorming meeting held among the managers over every Logos department. That level of Easter egg is never even hinted at that it exists.
