PBB: You don't have a license to view this resource, but you could...

I have built a few Personal Books now with the new tool. And, I thought I had read on one thread where it was noted that the resources would not be synced with the Logos servers and/or that that capability may come in the future. So, I did not expect to see Personal Books when I opened L4 on my other computer (other being not the one I created the books on). The Personal Books were listed.
So, I clicked to open one. A window opened that said, "You don't have a license to view this resource, but you could...". Then, a resource ID was listed and a link to Logos.com appeared under that.
Here is the question: If I copy the resource from the computer (from the proper Logos4 directory) that created the resource to the computer that gave this message, will it work? Or, will I need to copy the source documents in .docx format and compile on the computer that is missing the resource? If I compile on this computer, will it create two entries for the same resource in the Personal Books window (one pointing to the originating computer and one for the other computer)?

Currently, the metadata (author, title, etc.) and cover image for your Personal Books will sync between computers.
To make your book available on a second machine simply copy over the .docx file and recompile the book (using the existing entry for that book already present in the PB panel.) You don't need to dig into the L4 files and find the correct .lbspbb file.
A duplicate entry for the same book would be created if you clicked 'Add book' and started over rather than compiling the book using the existing entry with the metadata you used on the other computer.

Excellent! Thanks!!

Thanks for the tip!

When doing this - copying a book over and recompiling - its useful to be aware of the issue that Dave flagged at http://community.logos.com/forums/p/36772/276081.aspx

So, does this mean the path info. must match between computers?

Bill,
Yes it appears that it should.

Then, I don't think this will work. The path on originating computer is different from the path on the other computer.
On the originating computer, the path is C:\\users\[computer-name]\Documents\[subfolder]\[filename].docx
The path on the other computer could be setup with a folder structure the same below the Documents folder. But, the path above 'Documents' will be different. Is this allowed?

Bill, note that the response in the other thread indicates that this may not be a permanent issue. At the moment I haven't got a second computer to do testing on though.

So, at the moment, is it then better to find the correct .lbspbb file and copy into the other computer?

Hi! I think the best way is just to wait for the Personal Book syncing and sharing system that Logos will provide in the near(?) future.
But if you need the book on your second computer just now, I think you should use exactly the same path for docx in both computers.

No.
Delete the Body file(s) if it has the wrong path (hover to see) and then use the Add file.. button. It will then be sync'd to the other computer and you have to repeat the fix!

Sorry, but right now this seems to not make sense to me. There is no way that the full path can be identical on the two computers.
Are you saying that the body file needs to exist on both computers?

The longterm plan is that the actual file will sync between computers right?

This is a bug that we are trying to work around.

Yes! Until the PB resource can be sync'd between computers you have to re-compile from the same body files (don't create a new Book!). If the path is not identical you have to delete body files and Add files from the actual path.

The long term plan for Personal Books does not include having to compile the same book on multiple machines.
