Newbie who is a little confused...

I've just upgraded to Logos 4 on my PC, but it looks like the new software is cross-platform.
Does this mean that I can also access the books on my Mac?
I've got access via my iPhone, but what about my Mac?
I've installed the Logos 4 engine to my Mac - but it's an empty shell at the moment. What am I missing?
I think I need prayer!!

Kevin,
What is cross-platform are the resources you purchase in Logos. So you can install Logos for Windows on one machine and Logos for the Mac on another and use all your resources in each. You can also access many resources with an iOS device as you've discovered.
So you can install on your Mac and you'll get your resources downloaded and indexed there.
If you have specific Mac or iPhone questions, use the sections of the Forum dedicated to those applications.

As Mark suggested, the resources are cross platform. The trick is to make sure that your Logos 4 Mac installation is using the same username/email, since your resources are tied to that account. Once that is done, the downloading begins! Do you have a base package, or just a collection of individual resources you have purchased?

Is there a difference between installing the "engine" and installing "Logos for Mac?" Perhaps he installed the OLD Logos Mac product?

alabama--i was just wondering if he some how tried to install the wrong program. . . but sorry, my thinking was not clear and my answer was too brief--while starting to answer, I got a page from the hospital, and had to hurry up . . . it wouldn't even be possible to install the PC on a Mac, would it? (let alone work)

Ok, this sounds encouraging.
I've got everything working fine on the PC and the iPhone. I have installed Logos 5 on the Mac which opens up just as on the PC, but is empty of books. The account details are the same.
I must be doing something wrong I guess.0 -

5 !!!! Must be prophetic! LOL
My username is displayed and when I click on it - it takes me to the online store, confirming my account details and the books I've bought.
They just haven't appeared on my Mac

Kevin, here is the Mac install guidelines link. perhaps going through this might help you see if you have done all the steps.

So... even though I have already downloaded the resources once (for the PC), I have to download them a second time for the Mac?

they are on two different machines, aren't they?

each machine/engine will need to download and index resources. the exception for you would be your ipod, which accesses your available books online, unlike the pC and mac which currently access resources on your machine (downloaded and indexed). YOu can choose to download resources to your ipod to be able to access them off line, too. Not all of your resources are available for ipod, while Logos works out licensing. But most are available.

Thanks for clarifying that.
However, I can't see any obvious way of downloading the resources to the Mac

Yes, you do have to download (& index) your resource library for both PC & Macs. The mobile apps for iOS, Android, & whatever else they come out with run off the internet and allow selective downloading of resources for offline reading.
I use the Windows version of Logos and all we do is start it up while on the internet and it auto-updates, downloading all licensed resources you don't already have installed.
I suppose there is a way to move your Logos 4 resources from the PC to the Mac and speed up the process but I would go the usual route myself.

type 'update resources' into your command box of Logos on your Mac. It should trigger the massive download and subsequent index.

You might want to watch this Logos 4 Mac installation video--have you done all the steps? They say it should start downloading automatically, if you do. Please watch this, and if you have done all of those steps, and it still doesn't download (are you connected to the net?), let us know. Sometimes on recently purchased items, will "have to" type "update now" in the command box. I don't know that that applies for you. it should happen automatically.
We'll get this going! [8-|]
Peace
