PB linking question

I have not seen this answered, but maybe missed it. If so I apologize!

Is there a way to link to the user's preferred Hebrew lexicon? I know I can link specifically to HALOT, Dictionary of Biblical Languages with Semantic Domains: Hebrew, BDB, Gesenius etc., but isn't this problematic if a user doesn't have the one I link to? Ideally it would link to the top prioritized Hebrew lexicon.

If it is linked by a datatype. The BDB for example is linked to several data types. I suppose one would have to test this to find out for sure. This article in the Wiki gives more information. It states: Unlike normal links, they don’t link to a specific resource. Instead Logos will look through all your resources and choose the most prioritised appropriate resource.

Thanks Jerry, that gave me a clue but I ended up at another question now.

I think what I want is to link to a headword (not create a headword in my resource!).I noticed both HALOT and BDB have a Hebrew headwords index. So for example, I want to have a link be a Hebrew word; clicking on it takes me to the topmost resource in my prioritized list of resources that has that Hebrew word as a Hebrew headword.

How would I do that, I don't see it on the wiki?

Why would you not link your word to a Hebrew Strong's number? Every Lexicon that i have is Indexed by Strong's.

EDIT: the words in the ESV OT are all tagged with Hebrew Strong's numbers.

EDIT2: here is what works in my PB

[[Word1 >> HebrewStrongs:H8041]]

[[ שִׂמְאֵל >>
HebrewStrongs:H8041]]

The ESL is my preferred Lexicon. i used both an English word and the Hebrew word in separate links to show linking to the H8041.

I would prefer linking it to a lexicon if that is the higher priority for a user - BDB, HALOT, etc.

Here is a Screen capture, I tried linking to a headword and it doesn't recognize it - it seems I am doing what the wiki says, although I am using a Hebrew word not English. What is wrong with this?

In a PB i have found that Headword works mostly within that PB.

But in your picture, it looks like you have 2 different styles applied to the complete tag for your Headword. i have found that the PB compiler seems to have difficulty when i mix styles within a tag.

This is my editor view, i have created a custom style which i apply to all my tags (although if you use a single style for all parts of your tag it would probably work too, like NORMAL)

After building the PB, the PB does not recognize the Headword as a link outside of the PB (e.g. i hover over the Headword and there is no pop-up)

But the tagged word using Strong's does show a link when i hover the mouse over it. (i have changed my prioritization to DBL Hebrew)

EDIT: the number showing up in DBL is a GK number, but to the right of it you will see the Strong's number. (i don't have HALOT)

I hope you understand Steve, I do understand that Strong's works, but I do not want Strong's. I want to be able to search on a Hebrew Headword, which will bring up Lexicons that may or may not be related to Strong's. HALOT for example, a very rich lexicon, doesn't even contain the Strong's numbers so that would not be a useful search for what I am looking for.

I think that what Steve is saying is that if you use strong's numbers, you can still prioritize something else higher which uses strong's numbers. Notice that in his example he has strong's number with the DBL Hebrew. At least, I think that's what he is saying. [:)]

I looked at this yesterday when you posted but couldn't figure anything out.

I suspect that Logos would have to reveal the way its keylink tables work for Hebrew for us to be able to link to a prioritized Hebrew lexicon the way you want to. It might even be that the pbb engine doesn't even support this yet as we can't make interlinear resources which would be the primary place in the program this lemma function occurs.

Either way it would be nice for Logos to comment.
