For others who may want to convert wiki pages to a docx and share them, i suggest using these minimal rules:
- Set the wiki page Name to style Heading 1. This way we can add all the wiki pages to a single PB in our library and the Main TOC generated for our wiki PB will show the individual page names as main TOC entries.
- under the name insert red text indicating which revision of that wiki page you created the docx file from. (you can view the History of that page and see the Date/Time & Rev number of the current page)
(e.g. Date copied from the wiki: 07/08/2011 07:33:20 Rev 67)
- Remove the TOC copied from the wiki page in your docx. When you mark headings with the appropriate styles L4's PB will generate a TOC.
- Remove the link box (that box seen on the upper right side of the wiki pages which aid quick navigation) from your docx since your docx will become a PB and it is not necessary.
- Assign Heading 2 or greater following the actual wiki page's TOC
- Post your docx file in this thread with any comment you like. That way we all can find the docx files for wiki pages in the same thread.
PS you may want to announce here which wiki page you are doing so that others will know to select a different page to convert.
If we get enough volunteers i will setup a wiki page to see who is working on what and what is complete and what is missing.

One question occurred to me when doing this. The wiki page included links to other wiki pages - which still work in the PB.
Presumably it would make sense at some stage to convert these to links within the PB - but clearly would need a lot of articles done to make this feasible.
it probably also makes maintenance more difficult.
What do you think is the right approach here?

Yes i have thought about that too. But there is a way to convert each hyperlink to other files within the document. You can change the hyperlinks to a URL to the specific other docx files. The problem with doing that is each person's docx files have different unique names. So each user would have to do each link themselves. Or like you pointed out after we get most of the wiki pages complete you can add them one at a time into a unified document, again as you point out that file would not be very nice to deal with when mods are needed. By for me i just leave the links to other files as internet hyperlinks which works fine for now (as i seldom need to look at other files for assistance.
The nice thing is that we will have the bulk of the wiki available on our PCs in L4.
