Visual C++ Runtime Error

I downloaded the installer, and it said,

"Runtime Error!

[path]

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information."

I'm on hold for Tech support right now, so this thread can go one of 2 ways:

1. Someone knows what I need to do and posts it here, or

2. Logos Tech Support will answer (for some reason the Logos staff is really busy now hehe) and I'll post it here for anyone else experiencing the error.

Do you know what dot net framework you got installed on your machine? use add and remove in the control panel to find it out

.NET framework 1.1

.NET framework 1.1 HOTFIX (KB928366)

.NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 2

.NET framework 3.0 Service Pack 2

.NET framework 3.5 SP1

That should be fine, but it could be the framework is not probably registed in the registry. I see if there is a command to repair the link

WOW. OK, so while on hold I thought I'd run Windows Update. It wouldn't run because I had the BITS service disabled. I enabled that so I could run Windows Update. That is the only change I made to my system, and somehow- the next time I tried to duplicate the error (when I got through to tech support) it ran like it's supposed to. Thomas, check your services.msc and see if your BITS is disabled. Let me know- that would at least confirm that the service is what made a difference to the application (though I don't see how the 2 would be related).

Both the main Logos 4 program and the Logos 4 Setup program use BITS to download files. It seems possible that disabling this service could cause a crash (if so, it would be nicer to display a message telling you that the service is required).

In general, we strongly recommend that all Windows services be left in the default state.

This is how to enable BITS:

Start> Run> Services.msc, double click BITS and set it to Automatic, then Start, then Apply.

hi matt,
I saw that there is still a bug with a microsoft c++ error runtime, and i 've had the same since november, and today, when i tried to update for the 4.0a , i had the same error, so i went on the location of the update in the file update manager and it worked when i clicked ont the update file (32Mb) (but sill didn't work when i clicked on the setup logos update icon).

So for me the solution was to download the update and manually install it from the update manager file.I hope that could help to fix this error.

Ps : Few month ago , i asked on the forum if we could have a free version of the french Louis second bible (because this version is licence free) for logos 4, anyone @ Logos thought about this ?
