Discoveries in the Judean Desert

I suggest this series. The couple books I have looked at have gotten very good reviews. 40 books in total, this would make a nice series in Logos, wouldn't it?

Any scholars want to weigh in? I am a near-illiterate on Dead Sea Scrolls but have been trying to read as much as I can. Fascinating!

When I was at Claremont William H. Browlee had a class of us studying some of the plates from the DJD. It was quite an interesting exercise -- especially when we attempted to fill in a few of the lacunae. Highly recommended. It would be good to have the pics to compare with the transcriptions we already have. Your best person to comment on this would most likely be David Knoll.

It would be a fascinating series to own, especially since several of the titles are hard to find now. The downside would be the price tag. Given the average price per book is around $225, that would bring the total to over $9000.00, about the same price as the Cambridge Ancient History series (which they haven't added to their resources, even though it has been digitized). We can only hope. Good suggestion, I hope they listen.

Perhaps, but I think that between the Dead Sea Scrolls Study Edition and the Biblical Dead Sea Scrolls (separate files) we already have everything except the images.

I remember the day I got the sectarian text on my smartphone a few years back (Olivetree at the time). I was amazed at the accessibility. It was even more amazing that there was demand for these type of writings on a cell phone. DJD would certainly be nice.

Yes, indeed. I would still find the plates very useful. It's the same with the Text of the Earliest New Testament Greek Manuscripts: the text is fine but the plates make a big difference to study. That's why I love the British Library's online Codex Sinaiticus.

I would also be interested in this resource. If it were $9000 - my ability to purchase it would depend on one of two factors:

1. My wife working a third and fourth job (unlikely)

2. Winning the lottery (also unlikely since I rarely buy a lottery ticket)
