Bug - Galaxie resources - old files for new?????

I am now convinced having checked several times that the Galaxie resource journals are being downloaded repeatedly. Downloads are 105 meg, then 54 megs in a circle continuously called for. I have a backup of my L4 resources and can see that the downloads are dated 16th Oct being replaced by 14th Sept, then replaced by 16th Oct, then 14th Sept ad infinitum!!!

I have removed (several times) the Updates.db & DownloadManager.db.  Restarted etc.. & it makes no difference.  Please, am I the only one with this problem?

Also, my indexer keeps crashing. I have downloaded EnableLogging.js but where will I find the log files. The place for logs with the beta version does not have any updated log files. Is there somewhere else I should be looking?

I don't have your problem with the journals.  The logs are in "\My Documents\Logos Log Files" which is a different folder from the beta.

Log files are now in "Documents\Logos Log Files".

We have seen this problem with E4 books; it was caused by incorrectly-compiled resources being present in your Libronix DLS Resources folder. I suspect something similar is happening here; please zip and post your log files here and I'll take a look.

It's most helpful if you can run the program once, and when you're prompted to restart to install resources, make a copy of the current log files (before restarting). Then, after restarting, wait a few minutes and collect the current log files also (so that you have logs from two different runs of the application.)

    Bradley,

I have this problem happening on my system. It started when I updated my Galaxie files from their FTP site to my L3 Resources folder, Since then I have recieved 54GB downloads of Galaxie journal files three time. So far the last two days I haven't had a redownload of files, maybe it fixed itself, but i kinda doubt it. I'm running 4.0aB2

I am having a related but slightly different problem. Every time after L4 downloads an updated resource it proceeds to download 174.9 MB of further resources after it restarts and indexes. Today it downloaded CVTAUDIO.logos4 and then restarted, indexed and downloaded LLS_gs_bsac_091 through LLS_gs_bsac_163 and LLS_gs_jets_09 through LLS_gs_jets_28. Also in my downloaded folder is DB_SYNTAX-LEXHAMSGGNT which is dated Nov 12 but just sits there. I have SR-7 so unfortunately I don't have any log files to share with you. There is no download loop, it only downloads the Galaxie files after it has updated something else. It does it once and that's all I hear until the next time another new resource is available. BTW, L4 is showing the internal date on e.g. JETS 26 as 2006-07-30T06:41:25Z which is older than my L3 version, which is 2009-09-12T20:21:42Z.

I too questioned the L4 internal date and wondered if that caused some kind of conflict since the L3 resources have Sept or Oct of 2009 internal dates.

Maybe that's the problem but I updated my L3 journal files after installing the L4 beta. I thought that after the initial importing of L3 files it no longer checks the contents of the L3 resources folder but perhaps I am wrong. What I do know is that L4 does not have the latest resource build for these files.

Just one quick last thought. I copied the Galaxie files from the L4 resource folder over to my L3 resource folder, when I did this Logos 4 stopped downloading the Galaxie files over and orver again. But I decided I wanted the updated files, or at least for L3, so right now my L3 files are newer than my L4 files.

So obviously it is continuing to compare the contents of the two folders. It sounds like Logos needs to update their ftp files to the latest version and then things will run smoothly...What say you Bradley?
