Can anyone help me with searching for collocations in the Greek and/or Hebrew?

Thank You!

What are you looking for  - repeat words/phrases, sound's like another word, play on another word, repeat association of words?

Because I can only offer Syntax Search as beginning to have the sort of tagging that can allow a search for collocations e.g. repeat words

This is Andersen-Forbes Hebrew. This tagging does not exist for the NT in the three databases on offer. Do you have Syntax Search?

Hey! Thank you for the quick response --

Syntax search is the start, and maybe the tool is readily available and I just do not know how to use it.

For example, say we have a PI'EL form of a Hebrew verb and a direct object -- how does one search for a PI'EL form + specific noun ?

And furthermore, how does one search for a PI'EL form of a verb + a noun with a particular suffix / prefix added to it.

Those are the types of searches I am interested in doing -- thank you. If you know of a video that helps with that, that'd be great too.

These can be handled by Morphological Search --> http://wiki.logos.com/Morphological_Search (note the links to videos and other Search articles).

Others more familiar with Hebrew can offer further assistance.

Look for Syntax Search in the File menu. It is best for grammatical searches like direct object e.g.

That's not the complete answer as the Object may appear before the Verb. But see http://wiki.logos.com/A_Strategy_for_Syntax_Search

    Hey Dave --
This is extremely helpful, and exactly what I am looking for.

BUT. I am looking to do that with a couple of words together, or a collocation of words. Can I do, for example:

Go (qal.active.imperative.2nd person plural) to the temple (the noun + a preposition prefixed to it)

    ?

Two words, each with distinct parsing -- that's what I am looking for.

With Morphological Search you can specify:-

      lemma:עלה:1@VqAsSM3 BEFORE lemma:בית@NCcSMNH

which is "gone up to the temple" in Is 15:2. This works in a reverse interlinear like ESV, but more specifically in a Hebrew bible like Lexham Hebrew-English Interlinear or The Hebrew Bible:Andersen-Forbes Analyzed Text (AFAT).

When you type @ you will see the options for each part of speech.

thanks! Do you have any suggestion for the following:

I just searched "lemma:חכמה" (wisdom) BEFORE "lemma:בינה" (understanding) and it gave me "33 results in 16 verses"

I looked over the results, and many of the verses were doubled.

    any thoughts?

P.S. You have been a ton of help already. thank you.

I take it your actual search term was:-

    lemma:חכמה BEFORE lemma:בינה

The "doubling" is normal as you asked for two words in a certain order. If you wanted the words to be adjacent ("wisdom and understanding") then use

    lemma:חכמה BEFORE 1 word lemma:בינה
