Is this a bug or a feature?

I am using: Logos Bible Software 4.3 SR-3 (4.30.0.1592)

I wanted to create a new layout from a snapshot.  When I clicked on "Layouts" from the menu, I had three previously saved but on the right, no snapshots at all.

The help file now making no sense at all, I decided to just delete my previously saved layouts, close the application, reopen.  Now I have snapshots to select.

I don't want to have to delete my previously saved layouts.

Help please,

-John

I don't know the internal program logic Logos uses for creating snapshots (how often) but you should see something like below.

On the right auto-created snapshots including 'Now' (which is obviously the time you bring up the menu) and various other ones which likely are snapshots taken when you exit the app. For any auto snapshot you can click on the pencil icon, give it a name, and it will be added to your list of Named Layouts on the left.

And I did not see that, which is what I expected to see from my experiences before.  I had to delete all the ones on the left, restart, THEN I got what you see on the right.

I want to be able to SAVE my layouts on the right, not have to delete them again.

    Thanks for the reply!

I would suggest that you delete all saved layouts, exit Logos and restart, exit Logos again and restart and see if auto-saved (but unnamed) layouts are being created. If so exit Logos and restart, name an auto layout and exit Logos. If layout screen does not include both named & auto saved layouts when you go into Logos again you may need to contact support.

Someone else may also have some light to shed on this.

Not sure I am correctly interpreting your problem. Could you include a screenshot?

Sorry, I meant the layouts in the LEFT column based upon the snapshots in the RIGHT one.

I can't give you a screen shot at the moment becasue the issue is at least, temporairly not occurring after I deleted the previously saved layouts on the left and relaunched the program.

    Thanks,

    John -

Are you trying to tell us that you were not seeing ANY thumbnail "shapshots" on the right side at all, but you did see saved "Named Layouts" on the left? Then you deleted the "named layouts" and restarted? Why would have deleted the named layouts?

You should always be able to save the current snapshot by editing any of the previous snapshots not just the current one.

I remember your problem being an issue during the Alpha phase of Logos 4 Mac but I have not aware of it being a problem for anyone since then.

You definitely should not have to delete your existing layouts.

If the problem persists then a screenshot would be a great help. Ideally posting logs would help those who are computer savvy (i.e. not me) to figure out what the problem is.

Right, that is what I was experiencing.  I could edit the NAME of previously saved items on the left, but NO SNAPSHOTS appeared on the right until I deleted the ones on the left and restarted.

I noticed this state after the last update and, hmmm... I also did install the free upgrade to the "Bible Study Library KF"

I know, everyone would like to see a screen cap of this, but so far, the issue has not repeated... so far.

    Thanks all for your assistance.

Strange, should not need to delete named layouts (personally have some named layouts that where created using Logos 4 Mac alpha pre-releases).

If issue repeats, wonder about restarting Mac ? (vis deleting named layouts)

By default, diagnostic logging is disabled in Logos 4.3 SR-3, wonder if console messages have any interesting lines ?  Logos Log Scribe copies console messages when creating an archive file for forum attachment.

Option: enable Mac Diagnostic Logging then if layout issue repeats, use steps How to Report Bugs in Logos 4 Mac
