A2 - Install (bug?)

So, I downloaded the A2 for mac from here:

http://downloads.logos.com/LBS4/LBS4MacInstaller/Logos4Mac.dmg

It opened in disk mount utility, I double clicked the app icon and it installed, well sort of. It gave a warning saying it needed to be copied over to the Application folder. I clicked "copy." Then it tries to start, gives me a warning saying it's been dowloaded from the internet,. I click "Open" and then the program hangs on the "Logging In" bar.

Here's the real problem, I would love to post my logs, but lo and behold, it seems that my Library-Application Support-Logos4 folder has been completely deleted. Anyone else have this happen? Did I screw up somewhere?

Okay, so I decided to re-download and I noticed that the file I am currently downloading is 58.4 MB and then file I just downloaded and opened was only 48.8 MB. I am getting a little worried that I will have to re-index everything because I lost my Application Support folder. Is this true? Would it have been true anyway? Is this supposed to happen?

First things first; when you install any Mac app, you have to drag it from the initial window that opens into your Applications folder. That will make sure it gets installed in the right place. As for the logs folder, it actually  is under username/Library/... as opposed to the main Library folder (at least that's where I found it).

I have the same problem.  Never in my life have I seen such a mess for a software introduction.  At least I have Windows 4 working sort of with the limited features.  I am just going back and use Logos 3 until the smoke clears putting the Mac version on hold.  The overwhelming number of posts is making me dizzy.

Okay, so I redownloaded and I copied it into the App folder. You were right about having to go to /user/Library/Application Support/Logos4 So I found the log.

A2 is still hanging on login. The bar freezes and nothing happens. The log says:

    2009-11-06 07:46:45.2600    3    Info    SyncManager    (1001ms) Downloading items.

And that's it. Has it frozen like this for others?

Richard, it's not a software introduction.  It's an alpha release for testing.  It's going to be "messy".  The purpose of an alpha release is to fix messiness, beta to fix more messiness, RC to tweak it, RTC to buy and use.

The posts are for bug reports to help the build get it right.

It froze again on logging in. I forced quit and rebooted and it came up fine with no issues. It's now working!

I wanted to clarify that I rebooted my computer. Restarting logos before the reboot had no effect. So, force quit, restart the mac and then start logos and it works.

Jeff, welcome to the Alpha testing phase. Our job is to test and find bugs.  You have to think of it this way. Every time you get a crash, you have been successful!  BUT, you need to make a proper report of the bug with log files to be of real service.  You can find the instructions here
