Offline/Upload

Scenario: Proclaim servers crash on Sunday morning. Luckily, you have offline enabled, so as long as my computer cached all my files, I'm good. However, I can't ADD files at this point. You currently have it set up that if I upload a file, my computer then has to re-download that file before adding it to Proclaim. Seems to be a waste of time. Can't the file just play locally from my computer.

There is no explicit work offline mode. If you lose network connectivity the app will continue to run and your changes will be synced when you regain connectivity.

Our sync framework does not currently support syncing images which is why you must first upload the file to our server. Let me just say it's not planned for V1 but we'll keep it in mind. Thanks for you feedback!

That is unfortunate. I can see that being a deal breaker for our tech facilitator. If internet goes down before or during the service, we are out of luck then...unless I am understanding something wrong.

Once Proclaim has cached all the required content losing network connectivity is not an issue (excluding online services like signals and remote control). If your tech person opens the presentation sometime b/f the service begins and is able to preview it then you're good to go.

Thanks Scott- Our issue is more showing up on Sunday am and having no internet connectivity. Any changes made would be useless, and if I understand it, we wouldn't even be able to open that content at all.

Here's what worries me. If internet is down on a Sunday when we have a missionary, here's what will happen:

Proclaim will open correctly and display all of our service elements, because we made sure it was all cached. However, the missionary just showed up and gave us his slides for his message 20 minutes before service starts. Because internet is down, we can't add anything to Proclaim. Thus, keeping a backup presentation software would be required.

Overall, I'm THRILLED with Proclaim. It's just this whole "what if the internet were to blow up on a Sunday morning" subject that gives me the creeps.

I too love Proclaim in theory over our current solution MediaShout. As you said, this issue will make it a challenge. Currently the wireless in our sanctuary is someone unreliable. It almost always works, but sometimes it doesn't. With MS I just have to go to my office computer or my home computer and get the files via a flash drive. With Proclaim that will never be possible if the network goes down hard. While I doubt Logos servers are offline much, it can and does likely happen from time to time. I advise a lot of people about what software to buy and this one weakness will likely become a huge stopping point for people. You should really look hard at making it possible to add content locally that will run locally even if you are not online.
