Logos crash @appliction screen maximize, since Lion iCloud version

As reported Saturday in this [View:http://community.logos.com/forums/t/39499.aspx:550:0],

After installing the newest Lion version with iCloud,
when I start Logos, I get Logos with very narrow screen (see )
then when I press the maximize screen button (green plus),
it enlarges, but crashes after 5 seconds, see 2772.LogosDump.rtf.

Re-installing the newest Logos software does not help. Done it several times, always crashed, so I can't use Logos anymore.

Kees - Instead of clicking maximize (green button), have you tried stretching the screen open? If this works, you may need to rebuild your layout. Also, you could try Melissa's suggestion from another thread:

Are you able to open the program to the Sign In window by pressing the Cmd key immediately after clicking the Logos 4 icon in the Dock?

If you can, check the "Use blank layout" box and then click Sign In.

Would like to look at diagnostic logs after a crash. Screen shot and description are helpful.

Wiki Mac Troubleshooting => How to Report Bugs in Logos 4 Mac includes link to 5504.Logos4MacLogging.app.zip (display logging setting, then optionally change); also links to Logos Log Scribe (create zip file of Logging folder with copy of console messages)

Other option is contacting Logos Mac Support => http://www.logos.com/about/contact With your permission, Logos can connect with desktop sharing.

Apologies: am aware Logos 4.3 SR-5 is crashing on OS X Lion for several Logos 4 Mac users; not know why.

Kee's: Mine does the same things, only smaller-smile.

Found it is connected ( on mine, your milage may differ-sigh ) to internet being turned on or off.

If you have internet turned on in Preferences, try turning it off and restart Logos, it may well come up fullscreen this way. If you are using Lion, it may crash on first try, but then open fine.

If I turn internet back on, when I restart, I get the same screen you do and, often, when clicking to resize, it will crash and have to restart.

@Alabama24: Thx - the Melissa tip worked. I started thus with blank screen, then invoked via the menu Layouts, my named private lay-out. Now the program works as should.

@KeepSmiling: you ask for diagnostic log & screen shot, are they not both attached in my initial post?

@Charles: try Melissa tip, it worked for me.

Being a MAC user now for 2 years, I am amazed who easy programs crash on MAC, I hardly ever had/have a crash on Windows (XP/7).

Logos is a different story since it is a port of a windows program. Otherwise, my experience (going on 9 years) has been the opposite. Also, when programs crash on the Mac, they don't take down the whole computer like they did when I was on MSFT. What other programs do you have that are crashing all the time?

Thanks Kees: Seems the Melissa trick is related to internet being on, not needed with it turned off-interesting.

Switched from Windows to Mac about 4 years ago, only program that crashes for me is Logos. Have had a few video's crash with Lion, but that was fixed in last update.

Find Mac to be most stable platform I have ever used.

Dear Kees: I would call Apple or go to a store asap.

If you call, they can do a screen share, run a applet that tells them what the conflict is and get this taken care of post hast.

What you are describing is very "unlike" an Apple Product.

I had a similar instance once, for about a week, called them, they helped me reset the Pram and something else, can't remember, and, I have never had those issues again.

Macs truly do run extremely reliably and, if you are not experiencing that reliability, then something is wrong and they will help you.

It's not hype and, there is a reason that get voted as "best service in the industry" year after year.

So sorry you are having issues like this.

Of course Macs are not "Perfect" , nothing really is , but as one who still builds Windows machines and stays current on both platforms and understands the strengths and weaknesses of both, I can honestly say that what you describe is not "Mac Like" and should be able to get this resolved easily. It may well help your Logos situation as well.

They did help you: do you have a new Mac or service contract?

It may be unlike Apple, but it certainly is reality.
Friday the most simple Apple program crashed: TextEdit.
Yesterday Evernote crashed.

The program icons you see (Cmd tab) are OK when connected to external screen, after disconnect they are blurred.

I'll try to visit an Apple store, curious if they will help.

Dear Kee's: Don't know if store will give free tech helper not.

Apple forums very useful though.

If you have not already done so, I would: do permissions repair, reset Pram.

If not better ( on apple programs ), back everything up and re-install Osx.

Does not sound like hardware problem, sounds like you may have something corrupted in OSX.

Logos is a different story, it has many issues even on perfectly running machines.

So sorry to hear of your problems. Macs are not perfect, but they are indeed , truly, the most stable things I have ever used. I built and was tech support for Windows boxes for years, still cover some, none, no matter what we did, were as stable as OSX.

So yes, something is wrong, it can happen, it's just unusual. It can be fixed and usually pretty easily.

Hope to have been os some small help.

Screen shot with description and Apple's crash report were attached. Logos 4 Mac diagnostic logs were not. Apple's report shows crash happened, Logos 4 Mac diagnostic logs often provide context for crash.

When button restart needed, wonder if Mac feels hot to touch ? (especially bottom of laptop or back of iMac)

Option: can make a free appointment with Mac Genius at an Apple Store to discuss crashes, especially Apple programs.

On one MacBook Pro, user had an issue with Mail. Also, hard drive had lack of free space. Installed larger hard drive into MacBook Pro (lots of little screws); then did a Mac OS X installation, which included using Migration Assistant to copy stuff from old hard drive (using external USB connection). When Migration Assistant was done, MacBook Pro was noticeably faster in many applications since new 7200 RPM drive was faster than original 5400 RPM drive and Mail issue had disappeared.
