Does it work outside of the United States, and if so how. Lost in the Bahamas
Hi Lynden
Works fine in the UK.
What specific problems are you seeing?
Graham
When I go to location and type in nassau, bahamas the program draws a blank.
How do I go about setting the location?
Bump.
Hi Lynden,
I live in the UK and had a similar problem (though not on the same scale). I tried numerous permutations of the church address and each time it would fix the location as several miles away. I then discovered that it had no problem locating the local ASDA two doors down.
Have you tried adding a major landmark somewhere in the Bahamas just to check it can locate anywhere on the island? If so, it may just be trial and error to get close enough so that it doesn't confuse members of the congregation trying to locate the presentation to follow along.
Let us know how you get on. I would be interested if you are able to find a more precise workaround.
Andy
Thanks Andy. It does not even recognize Nassau, Bahamas as a location. Why is it using bing, and not google?
That is a real shame and I am not sure that there is a workaround to that. I guess you will still be able to project, but it will make it difficult if not impossible for your congregation to locate the correct presentation in order to follow along.
I also wondered why Proclaim had chosen to go with Bing. I am sure there is a good reason, but it is a shame. I had no trouble finding the Bahamas on Google earth. I just checked.
I hope you get an official response and the bug is rectified double-quick.
As a work around, I typed in the GPS coordinates from Google earth and it located it, but now the box will not close. 25° 3'15.28"N, 77°20'28.95"W
After posting, I went back to Proclaim and the cooordinates are now saved. Will see if someone can test it over the weekend.
It looks like the maps feature requires an exact address. Typing "Seattle, WA" has the same problem. I have submitted this issue to our developers for review.
Please let us know if you find any other odd/undesired behavior in the location features.
Thanks,
Hi Hunter,
Just to let you know that entering an exact address does not work in our case. Entering the exact address (300 Middleton Road, Oldham, UK) incorrectly locates the church at the opposite side of town. We have played around with various permutations (and tried adding the post/zip code), but to no avail.
As above, it does recognise the local ASDA store and this is a reasonable workaround for the present.
I had the same problem and managed to solve it by putting in Latitude and Longitude rather than typing an address. Hope this helps
p.s. google maps can generate these, just a quick google search away.
Craig
It looks like the maps feature requires an exact address. Thanks,
It looks like the maps feature requires an exact address.
I had the same issue in Russia, and unfortunately it prohibited me from trying out Proclaim. I purchased a competing software package.
