For songs, I can change shadows, outlines, etc. I would like to have that ability for content slides as well.
I second this!
There is a workaround.
If you select 'add item'/'content'/'customise', you can then add captions. This then gives you the desired options to customise your content slide (as per below),
Notwithstanding this, I agree with your suggestion. This limitation is, in my view, inconsistent and the workaround something of a faff.

Great workaround, but for a 30 slide presentation, that doesn't quite work because that added caption is going to be on every slide.
I absolutely agree.
It is less than ideal and I agree that your request (to my mind, at least) makes absolute sense.
However, if you are planning on using the same style across all 30 slides (and the slide is not too complex), you could customise the first slide and then duplicate (as per below),
Then, rather than going into 'customise' for each successive slide, you can type in the highlighted box which will change the content while retaining the style (as per below),
Where two captions are used, both boxes can be used to customise the slide content (which enables slightly faster customisation of moderately complex slides),
I have just done fifteen or so slides using this method and, although it is far from ideal, it did speed things up considerably. This workaround is, of course, only useful where the slides are not too complex and the same style is being retained throughout.
Just to clarify, I agree wholeheartedly with your suggestion. I just wanted to share this workaround in the hope that it might save you some time.
