vyrso ?bug - keeps losing the place while I am reading a book, e.g. Spurgeon.

I use Vyrso for reading in comfort on the iPad. But it keeps losing the page I'm reading and going back to some previous point. It has done this particularly with Spurgeon. And if I type in the number of the page from which it hijacked me, it refuses to take me to that page. Very frustrating. Yet I choose Vyrso on iPad for my e-reading app, feet of clay and all - tho I;ll be so happy if and when these teething problems get sorted out.

Incidentally a Users guide would be a great help. I don't find the programme very intuitive. I solve most of the problems that crop up by trial and error, but it would be much quicker and less frustrating if I had some idea what I was supposed to be doing!

Having complained, I'm aware that this is a free programme, and I'm grateful for it.

My apologies for the difficulty you have been experience with losing your page. Most of the time the position syncing works, but there are some cases when it may not, particularly if you were offline when you were reading last. Most issues should be fixed soon with our new update.

It jumps to an unrelated page while I'm reading it offline, for no apparent reason. I seldom read it when online. I look forward to the new update.

Thanks for pointing me to the FAQ page, which I didn't know about. In fact it doesn't answer my questions.

One problem is that for no apparent reason it sometimes jumps from 2 column format to one column. Now I just continue to read it in that format till it decides to revert to 2 columns.

Another problem is that it sometimes elects to open another book in the second column, or sometimes another copy of the same book. I get round that by moving the dividing bar at the end of the column to the right hand edge of the screen and it then normally reverts to 2 column view.

I'd like an explanation of how 2 finger flicks work, both in Vyrso and in Logos app.

I have the problem that I often inadvertently touch the screen, forgetting it;'s a touch screen and not a book, and that naturally causes changes I don't always find easy to reverse! Incidentally it now happens when I'm reading a book that I sometimes try to turn the page with a finger flick!

Let me see if I can answer some of those questions for you. [:)]

One problem is that for no apparent reason it sometimes jumps from 2 column format to one column. Now I just continue to read it in that format till it decides to revert to 2 columns.

This generally has to do with headings that will not fit within the margins on a two-column display. The fact that it reverts back to two-columns eventually supports that. For example, if you are paging through Numbers, a chapter or so before the end of the book it would likely revert to one column and stay that way until you had gone a few pages past the book heading for 'Deuteronomy' because that heading (depending on your display options) is too large for the two-column view.

Another problem is that it sometimes elects to open another book in the second column, or sometimes another copy of the same book. I get round that by moving the dividing bar at the end of the column to the right hand edge of the screen and it then normally reverts to 2 column view.

There is a page divider icon (little half circle that lives in the corner of your screen) which will allow you to open two books at once when you drag it horizontally (landscape) or vertically (portrait.) It sounds like you may be accidentally opening a second resource instead of paging, since you can then drag the divider off to one side to remove the additional book. If you keep your left/right swipes toward the middle of the screen you should be able to avoid that.

I'm not aware of a location in the app that supports a two finger swipe (I'm not sure if that's what you mean by 'flick'.) What is it that you are trying to do with that gesture?

I can't help you with the first part. [:)] I do that sometimes, too. Page changes are made with a one-finger swipe: swipe to the left for page forward, swipe to the right for page backward. The hard part can be remembering where you were and if you need to left-swipe or right-swipe to get back there!
