On Air moves designer to external monitor

When I press the "On Air" button, the presentation goes to the external monitor, which is the overhead projector as it should, however, the designer program also jumps to external monitor and it is behind the presentation where it can't be seen or accessed while the presentation is up. How do I get the designer to stay on the initial monitor so that I can control the presentation while it is being displayed to the congregation?

The font size doesn't work on the lyrics which is another show-stopper for us subscribing and using Proclaim for our presentation software.

This is driving me crazy. The program needs a settings dialog box that allows you to set whlich monitor is to receive the on-air display. Having to move the on-air window and resizing it is not professional, since the program is designed to be used by different users each with their own set of, or lack of, external monitors.

Windows now. Switching to a Mac in January.

Did you have your projector hooked up and turned on BEFORE you opened Proclaim?

Was the Presenter window in Full Screen immediately when you went On-Air/

Yes, the projector was on and hooked up and the presenter was full screen immediately.

Try pressing ESC when the Presentation window is selected and Full-Screen. This should restore it to the smaller size.

Then, move the designer window back to the main (non-projector) monitor.

I have a Mac and it does this. How can I fix it? I hook computer after projector is on.

The way most computer projection systems work these days is for the projector to appear as an additional monitor on your computer. In the case of a Mac laptop, the projector connects just like an external monitor. The trick, then, is to tell the computer not to mirror the contents of the built in screen onto the external screen, but to use them as two separate displays. To do this on the Mac, first connect your projector and ensure you see your Mac desktop on it. Then go to the Apple menu, select "System Preferences" and "Displays." Inside displays, choose the "Arrangement" tab. Uncheck the "Mirror Displays" box (see attached screenshot). Arrange the monitors to be side-by-side. Now your projector should act as an extension of your laptop's screen: when the mouse slides off of one, it should appear on the other. You can place different windows on each screen.

At this point, you can take Proclaim's "On Air" window, place it on the projector screen, and click the "Full Screen" button. It will automatically fill the projector display and leave the laptop's built-in display available for control of the presentation.

The typical use pattern for which the Presentation Window was designed is:

Connect, power-on and configure your projector before starting Proclaim
In the Proclaim Window, click On-Air
A Presentation Window appears
Position the Presentation Window on the desired screen/projector
Resize the Presentation Window to the desired size or simply click the "Full Screen" button in order to use the whole display
Proceed with the presentation
When the presentation is done, click the "On-Air" button in the Proclaim Window again to go off-air. Don't change the Presentation Window size or position.
The next time you go On-Air, Proclaim will remember where the Presentation Window was when you went off-air and put it back there if possible.

Is this approximately how you are using the Presentation Window?

"If possible" in the last bullet item means that if your monitor configuration (number of devices, settings, arrangement) differs when you go on-air again from how it was when you went off-air, Proclaim might not be able to make a correct decision about how to position the Presentation Window. Some examples of when this could happen are when you:

power off or disconnect a projector or monitor while on-air
re-arrange the monitors in System Preferences -> Displays
plug devices in to different ports even while Proclaim is not running

So if, for example, you disconnect your projector or make changes in the "Displays" section of System Preferences, and then go on-air again, Proclaim might have already adapted to the changed environment even though you changed it back later.

One other wrinkle: if you go on-air and fullscreen with the Presentation Window on the same screen as your Proclaim Window (where you edit/control the presentation), Proclaim will know this is not ideal and will move the Proclaim Window, placing it on a different display device if one is available. Otherwise, Proclaim avoids moving windows automatically, leaving that up to the user.

Being able to quickly, easily and predictably go on-air is a central feature of Proclaim. I would like to make sure it is working well for you. Please let us know if the use-pattern delineated above does not produce the expected results. Also, please be sure you are not changing the display configuration while on-air (e.g.., go off-air before turning off your projector).
