Logos 4 Mac won't start

Hi There,
Logos 4 Mac was running slowly for me for a couple of weeks and now the app won't start. A search in the forum turned up nothing on this issue. Any ideas short of reinstalling?
Thanks.

You may want to try the procedures here: http://wiki.logos.com/Logos_Not_Starting
If this does not work, get back and I am sure others will provide additional suggestions.

Imarino - If the link that John shared with you doesn't work, perhaps you could try to reinstall just the program engine (the resources are left untouched). You can download the latest stable version HERE.

Wonder about restarting Mac ?
Likewise curious about diagnostic logs.
Wiki Mac Troubleshooting => How to Report Bugs in Logos 4 Mac includes link to 5504.Logos4MacLogging.app.zip (display logging setting, then optionally change); also links to Logos Log Scribe (create zip file of Logging folder with copy of console messages)
Option: contact Logos Mac Support => http://www.logos.com/about/contact

No, it didn't work. The log in screen didn't come up.

Are you able to create logs?

What version of OSX & Logos are you running? Have you done anything out of the ordinary recently?

I followed the "turn on logging" instructions provided and then tried to view the logs, but there was no Logos4 folder within application support.
I'm running OS 10.5.8 and Logos 4.10.48093 (which was installed by the DVD). I thought that the application updates automatically after it is installed, but not sure that it installed correctly.

Is there a reason you uninstalled the software? Did you delete the library too? If so, here is what I would suggest:
I am not an expert on this, but from my memory:
- Download the newest version HERE. Don't worry about using the DVD right now.
- Install the Program. It will install over the old version.
- If prompted to, enter your username & password.
- From the command prompt, you can insert your DVD and use the command scan optical media to avoid having to download everything.
- Logos will need to index. This will take a while.
On another matter: I would encourage you to upgrade your OS if possible. There are many advancements to the operating system. What are your computer specs?

Please see comments above with ** for answers to your questions. I will consider the OS upgrade. Here are my computer specs:
BTW, your advice on "how to quote someone" is very helpful. :-)

Glad to hear!

There are many improvements in both Snow Leopard and Lion. Sometimes more technologically minded users (which is not me) complain because Logos 4 Mac doesn't take advantage of certain new features in the newer operating systems. Logos cites a significant minority of users still on Leopard as a reason to not update certain features. Since you are on Leopard, I don't know if you would have to purchase both Snow Leopard & Lion, or if you could just jump to Lion. You might need to purchase Lion on a thumb drive since you don't have the App Store available in Leopard. If you were able to upgrade directly, it is only $30!

Apple Store has Snow Leopard upgrade => http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A that includes: "To upgrade your Mac to OS X Lion, you must be running OS X Snow Leopard. If you have OS X v10.5 Leopard, purchase OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard now and install it on your Mac. Then buy OS X Lion as a digital download from the Mac App Store"
Also noticed Snow Leopard family upgrade (up to 5 Mac's) now $ 49 => http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC574Z/A
Upgrading from Leopard to Snow Leopard has some potential issues => http://www.macintouch.com/specialreports/snowleopard/slfaq.html Appears most programs that work under Leopard continue to work in Snow Leopard => Snow Leopard compatibility list that should be noticeably faster in many applications (Snow Leopard is faster than Leopard and uses less disk space).
If Mac can run Snow Leopard's 64 bit kernel, have option for another noticeable speed boost: wiki Mac Troubleshooting => Slow Performance includes:
Enabling Snow Leopard 64-bit kernel noticeably faster, up to 30 % - some older Mac’s and software drivers limited to 32 bit kernel
- Apple Support has 64-bit kernel frequently asked questions - third party 32-bit kernel extensions do not work when running 64-bit kernel
- Apple Support has 64-bit kernel capable Mac list - iMac (early 2008 & newer) and Mac Book Pro (early 2008 & newer) models can use 64 bit kernel, but default to 32 bit for compatibility.

Wonder if looking in Library folder for all users (system wide) vis looking in Library folder for your Mac user ?
