Logos 4 Mac Issues

Hey Guys,

Having a couple of issues with Logos 4 for Mac. First of all, when I launch it, I get to the "Logging In Screen", then Logos just quits. The indexer has been running forever now in the menu bar, and I recently quit it because my processor fans started spinning.

What do I need to do to get to the main screen?

Also, how can I see which alpha I have? I need to check and see if I need to update to the latest alpha.

I'm on a 15" MacBook Pro (Unibody, Late 2008) running Snow Leopard 10.6.1.

I understand your frustration. It took me 4 days to complete the indexing and my MacBook was running hot during those days. Now I can see the fruit of it. Although there are number of crashes in the program that need to be fixed.

Regards to your question about the main screen, I wonder, are you in Alpha2 (4.0.3.2697)? You can check it through the menu bar under Logos Bible Software 4/About. If you are in this version, you will have the simple home page with the search bar on the top left. Otherwise, you need to download the new dmg.

Other than that, you can play around the passage guides under the Guides menu.

Problem is I can't get that far. Logos quits before I can even get to the home page or the "About Menu". Not sure what I need to do to get things working...

Is the Logos icon still running on top of the menu? If so, click cancel download, then cancel indexing, and lastly cancel all (must be done in sequence) and try again log in again.

Other possibility could be that you are running on A1, or insufficient harddisk space. I have encountered the later and it quit each time I log in.

Just to be on the safe side, I'm re-downling the alpha to make sure I have Alpha 2. My guess is I have Alpha 1.

I tried again, and it logged in and re-loaded the indexer, so my guess it's just not done indexing yet.

I should have plenty of space. I have quite a bit left and about to ditch my Boot Camp partition since I'm going Fusion all the way in Win 7. That'll give me even more.I I've also uninstalled Libronix Mac off this Mac and just have it as a backup on my old PowerBook. That should give me space galore.

I'm going to try updating to the latest alpha, then run my Mac for a long time overnight for a couple of nights and see if it just needs to finishing indexing. Probably just not done. Thanks for all the tips guys!

Yep, had Alpha 1. Got Alpha 2 now. Logged in, indexer's going. Got a home page to look at now while the indexers going! Nice!

All of my books are showing up, so that's good. Able to access some reports. So all that needs to be done now is the indexer and we're good. We're getting there!
