How do I save and name a Layout in Logos 4 like I could save and name workplaces in Logos 3?
Click Layouts (top right corner). The text Snapshot under each of the snaphshots on the right is editable, give it a name and it will be saved in the named layouts on the left of that menu...
Look at your current layout by pressing the "Layouts" button (upper right). Click on the text "Snapshot | [time stamp]" and the text should disappear and make room for you to type in any text you want (e.g. "Exegesis"). Renaming any layout saves it for you. If you change the pages, or resources on that layout and want to save it, select your current layout again, and give it the same name ("Exegesis") and the new layout will overwrite the old.
One tip is this.
If you have a "regularly used" workspace like "my everyday studying" then I'd name it something easy like 1 or something...typing in the name to overwrite the current workspace at the end of the day is the pits.
I wish there was just a save button
This way of saving workspaces is a step backwards. There is great advantages to the new system, but we need a way to simply save workspaces like in Logos 3. This is a hassle.
Not in my opinion....it's a breeze.
Not to mention that if you blow it and forget to save a layout...you can go back to the layouts, open it and save it then....handy when you make a big mistake and forget to save....
Yes, it was nice to be able to just click the save icon as opposed to manually typing the name of the workspace in each time.
In what way is it a step backwards? I love the new layouts and get more use out of this feature than I did from Logos 3 workspaces. At minimum, Layouts in v4 does everything Workspace did in v3. But Layouts can do even more and are even easier to work with.
The only improvement that i can see is a "save" button...or "right click" the layout and choose save....
I like your right click suggestion.

But these menus are a little big.... [:D]
You can save it. Go to "layouts" that you have saved (they appear on the lefthand side) and do a right mouse click on the one you want to save. It will ask you "update to currnt snapshot" and click on this command. Walla, your present study is saved. It's not handy but it does work in the same way as a save button, which I agree, they should add to the softwared.
Kelly - Welcome to the forums! Thanks for trying to help out. [:)] In the future, it might be good to check the date of the post… in this case, the post was made 2 1/2 years ago. [;)]
Whatever happened to the dog with the funny glasses (and the levitating magnifying glass above his head). That was a VERY good idea on Layouts (his drawing).
Years later, I'm still carefully trying to make sure I get the mouse in the right cue, press the correct mouse button, and then hope for the best. It's dangerous.
I can't even imagine trying it with the touch screen.
