SFA vs. PB

As has already been mentioned, PB as it stands now is not an adequate replacement for SFA. In my case there are three reasons this is so:

1) Ease of entry for Tags, Topics, Date, and Scripture - no need for coding of headwords and tags, etc.

2) The index at the end of the SF resource where sermons were grouped together and can be viewed by said Tag, Topic, Date, etc.

3) I can continue using the Libronix 3 SFA and copy the resulting resource into Logos 4, and I have been doing this, but there is another issue with this. When using Libronix 3 the Sermon resource opens with a reference box for entering a tag or scripture and a drop down arrow which will show the related sermons when there is more than one with the tag or Scripture I enter. When I copy the sermon file resource into L4 this reference box is no longer there. I am losing functionality.

I have no interest in a web-based solution. I simply want to be able to search my sermons, or look at them easily by topic or tag or dates. If this can be done in PB then fine, but at the moment it isn't possible.

I don't understand what you mean. Could you provide a screenshot? There is a neat free program you can use - Jing.

Any resource that is indexed has a reference box in the upper left corner. For Bibles you can enter a verse, in dictionaries you enter a topic, etc. Since the Sermon File resource is indexed and has this box in L3 it should be there in L4 but it isn't.

I see what you are saying. My "Sermons of ..." book has the index, but it is only indexed by topics and tags, not Scripture. There is no index in this resource in L4

If Logos implements this metadata through a template, I sincerely hope it is in the context of making tables work in the PB.

A table in a Personal Book could have Tags, Topics, Date, Scripture(s), and Place(s) that can be searched using Logos 4.

Apologies: I do not have sermon file add-in, wonder what summary looks like ?

I simply want to be able to search my sermons, or look at them easily by topic or tag or dates.

Follow-up to forum thread => Can my fellow Logos users help me help you? I have a Personal Book with a sermon series on James by Dr Kurt Trucksess:

For Table of Contents, I chose a Heading # style for paragraph (ranging from 1 to 3), which are searchable using Large Text in Logos 4 since the heading font is large enough (e.g. Heading 3 has 13 point font size).

For Bible location in sermon series, I added Bible milestone tag to match verse reference in sermon title. Each of the sermons has a date in one paragraph, following the title. Using Logos 4.5 Beta 12, I can search for year (e.g. 2011) to find sermon dates plus specific references within sermon(s).

I haven't tried recently but the last time I tried references within a table were not recognized ... and my memory keeps thinking it will remind me of another problem. I believe this thread was started after Bob's post and a complaint in another thread of problems with tables in PB which is why I also wanted the problem noted here.

Forum thread => What is the best way to compile information about book/ commentary authors? has a screen capture showing a table in Word 2010 with 4 columns, which have several hyperlinks. Using Logos 4.5 Beta 12, verified all hyperlinks in my Personal Book table work.
