We just pushed out a major update to the content and metadata for the Early Church Fathers (both Protestant and Catholic Editions):
Improved Author and Work Metadata
We’ve added the names of the Church Fathers themselves to the author fields for each volume and added work titles to the resource descriptions, so that both can be easily located via Library. For instance, entering “author:Augustine Enchiridion” will get you quickly to NPNF1:3, where Augustine’s Enchiridion on Faith, Hope and Love can be found.
Publication and Citation Information
Publication and citation data now accurately reflects the print originals, which were used in preparing (soon to be released) corrected and updated files.
Ante-Nicene Fathers, Volume 10 / 9
We are changing the volume number of our current volume 10 (containing The Gospel of Peter, The Diatessaron, etc.) to volume 9, to reflect the more common numbering of this volume.
Our old numbering reflects the order of publication, since this volume was originally published after the index volume (not included in the Logos edition, but commonly called volume 10 in reprints). However, Logos’s numbering was idiosyncratic. The index volume was originally unnumbered and volume 9 was published from the beginning as volume 9. To eliminate confusion and better reflect the print original, we are adopting the common numbering.
Updated and Improved Resource Files
We've updated the resources with:
· Improved formatting and text quality (restoring missing text in some cases)
· Tens of thousands of references tagged
· Heading fields
· Author and work citation data
Note that this update might cause some disruption of notes and highlighting, since some of the text required major changes. We’ve attempted to minimize this, and based on some spot checking of hundreds of my own highlights, I think problems should be minimal.
These updates should download automatically for owners of the Early Church Fathers next time Logos 4 is opened.
Enjoy!
