Tool: L4-Bibliography2
i have built a program which i use to help me generate PBs with L4 book images/hyperlinks. Thought that i would share this program with any of you Windows user out there.
The program requires:
- Windows Vista/Win7 (not test on XP)
- Logos4 version 4.3 or higher (not tested with 4.5)
- Microsoft Office (or Word) installed (tested with Office 2010)
I will give a brief description of what the program does here:
It allows you to select a group of L4 book cover images, then after selecting the group you will be able to open the Build window
From the Build window you select how you want the images sent to a Word docx file. Once that you have setup your configuration, you would hit the Build Docx button and it generates a Word docx file with your images/info/hyperlink in it
I usually copy the table of images/links to a different docx that i am working on to make a PB with. Below is an image of my PB. In the PB i have a Table of Contents tied to each group. So i can quickly open this PB and navigate to any book that i normally use. (in the Help pdf there is a section at the end detailing how i use the program)
The program will also allow you to read and build a list of all (or some) of your L4 document (e.g. Notes, Clippings, Passage List, etc). Each document title is also hyperlinked to that document. So in your PB you can locate a Note or other document and click on it to have L4 open your Note. When the program creates your document list in a docx it sorts your titles alphabetically.
You can find info about the program along with installation file at the webpage below:
Comments
- with the installer: please read the Note under where you downloaded the file. It has a link to a forum post which gives you instructions on how to uninstall the old version, then install the new version.
- running the program: please drop me an email: admin [at] bibl2.clark-tx.net
- You could not save the docx generated by Bibl2 and build with L4/L5 PB tool.
- When building your PB, you received many warning messages.
- (the above problems once had work-arounds in this post. But these work-arounds are not needed anymore)
Steve,
I've run upon some trouble not covered in Help. After having successfully built two docx files each containing 288 books, I found myself unable to merge the 2nd library into the 1st with both images and type intact. I was only able to merge either all type or all images, but not both. What is the remedy?
Thanks

i usually have my PB docx file open and the cursor positioned at the end of that file.
Then i run Bibl2 which creates a new docx with the images & links. In the Bibl2 docx i usually click out side the table and press Ctrl A which selected everything in the Bibl2 docx. Then i press Ctrl C which adds everything in the docx to the clipboard (for large amount of images you may need to wait a couple of minutes while Word adds that info to the clipboard.
Then i return to my PB docx file with the cursor at the end of the Word doc, then i press Ctrl V to paste the clipboard contents into that docx file. Then i save the PB docx file. Then i go to L4 and compile my PB.
Then i delete the Bibl2 docx file.

I do everything exactly as you indicate in the above quote. Including being sure the original docx file is not read only. But for some reason the second docx file compiles into the original docx file with either only type or images.
Thanks for your help Steve.

Any plans to modify fo L5?
Hi Thomas,
i am still running L4, so i will have to look into this later. i visit with a couple of people who have L5, so i will try copying the associated db's and see if they are similar enough that Bibl2 can read them. If so, then i will need to investigate how L5 is integrated into the Registry. If it is very similar, then it should not be too difficult to update Bibl2 to read from either L4 or L5. i don't know how long this will take tho.
steve
Updated Bibl2 to work with Logos5's database. This should work now with L5.
You can download the updated version here: L4-Bibliography2
If you have problems:
You can see the brief release note here (see note for Nov 10, 2012)
Fixed 2 problems which were very annoying:
