NICOT/NICNT- old and replacement volumes

I was please to see that the NICNT prepub already includes the replacement volumes of 1 & 2 Thessalonians by Fee (published July 15th, 2009)

However, many of us find some of the old volumes quite valuable (Murray on Romans, Ridderbos on Galatians, Hughes on 2 Corinthians, and of course Bruce on 1 & 2 Thessalonians).

I understand that the publisher has a lot to say in the matter, but I would like to see the NICOT/NICNT set follow the example of the forthcoming TOTC/TNTC set and include old volumes that are still valuable  along with the replacement volumes (i.e. Esther by Baldwin and the replacement by Reid).

alternatively, the old volumes (only the good ones [;)]) could be offered as an attractive prepub add on of 5 or so volumes

Sounds like a very good suggestion, however I tend to think "the newer, the better". I don't claim it is better attitude, just I noticed I have this tendency.

I have suggested this previously to Logos. It will be nice to have all the older volumes not just the good ones[;)]

Well my friend it was L. Morris who wrote the Thessalonians volume in NICNT, Bruce wrote the Thessalonians volume in WBC.[;)]

I would prefer to have the newest volumes as part of the complete set and the older versions available as individual volumes that could be purchased optionally.

There's no reason to add to the cost of an expensive set unnecessarily.

Through bad (or is it good?) eisegesis and blatant disregard of the context I can even bring biblical to support the matter

"Every teacher ...is like a homeowner who brings from his storeroom new gems of truth as well as old." (

While the scholarship might be dated in the older volumes, many of them are pregnant with theological reflection that has stood the test of time

and if there is an opportunity to get them at a bargain price, it would be foolish to refuse

"if there is an opportunity to get them at a bargain price, it would be foolish to refuse" Is Alain also a mind reader? Seeing that when Logos offer products in bundle it is heavily discounted i will not want to miss out. Individual volumes sale comes with a hefty price tag, i prefer the cheaper option.[:D]

You need not worry, any addition to the NICNT/NICOT before it ships will cost you nothing if you have already Pre-ordered, at least that is what has happened previously. Individual volumes sales are highly priced, another way round this could be another collection for the older volumes.[:)]

I was pleased to see Dan Pritchett's comments regarding the switchover for current Pradis owners to Logos(http://community.logos.com/forums/t/2361.aspx).  I am also pleased to see that NICOT and NICOT is shipping soon.

But all of this makes me wonder if we ever got an official answer from Dan or anyone else at Logos regarding the older, no-longer-published volumes of NICNT/OT i.e., Murray, Ridderbos, Hughes, et al?
