Transferring my logos library
hello,
I am having some problems with my library. I just got a new computer and my old one is gone. I do not have my logos still running on my old computer at all as it is in the hands of another person now. I installed logos 4 on my new computer, just the base program with the understanding being that all i had to do was sign in and my logos would transfer as it is all online anyway. In fact i do not have any discs as i downloaded my version of Logos from the site instead of buying from the store. when i opened up logos the regular home page came up with my account attached and everything but none of my settings were on it, nor was any of my library. In fact no books are showing at all. In the library scrolling across the top it says null and when i go to see my library under tools it shows nothing!
Heeeeelp! I know i did something wrong here and would totally appreciate your help!

Hi Jonathan - welcome to the forums! Sorry you are having troubles.
Just to make sure I am understanding you correctly:
- You got rid of you old computer
- You did not save any back up files
- You downloaded the engine and entered your password
- Now you are wondering where everything is
Do I have that right? What base package (if any) did you have? Can you see your resources on biblia.com (a logos website) when you log in?
My guess from your initial post is that you haven't given the program time to download your files. Depending upon the size of your library, it could take a LONG time. After it is done downloading, it will need to be indexed, which also takes a long time.

PS - if you can get in touch with the person you sold your computer to, you should make sure they delete Logos. It could cause you problems down the road if you don't.

thanks for the reply! I did erase the logos off of my old computer. the person who has it usually knows quite a bit about this stuff and assured me that my account is all on line with logos anyway and it would not matter. I trust the guy cause i know him well and he is also a logos user himself. I have the bible study base package!

Wonder if indexer is running ? If so, curious about status ?
Wiki Mac and PC User Interface Differences => Indexer Icon has screen shots showing Logos blue icon in menu bar for indexer; can click icon for status.
If Indexer is not running and nothing in library, would like to see diagnostic logs. Please enable diagnostic logging, restart Mac, then watch for Blue Logos indexer icon to appear. After Blue icon disappears, launch Logos 4 Mac, if nothing in Library, please quit Logos 4 Mac, compress log files, then reply with zip file upload.
Option: download and use an applescipt application 5504.Logos4MacLogging.app.zip to display your logging setting, then change to enable logging.

Wiki Mac Troubleshooting => How to Report Bugs in Logos 4 Mac has the log posting steps, including link to Logos Log Scribe application to create a zip file on your desktop (copies console messages, then compresses contents of your Logging folder for posting).

This leads me to believe that you have two accounts with Logos. Can you try another email address?

One way to check Logos resource association with your Logos.com account is login to http://biblia.com so can see resources in your Logos library, which are available for mobile use.

Funny thing, I did that and it shows the base resources that i have but none of the ones that i have purchased. But yes it is the right email. i tried the work email that i have just in case and there was no account for it! also, on my other mac i had a little blue logos icon at the top of my screen next to my drop box icon and wireless meter. I don't have one this time. Perhaps something has gone wrong with the install?

also, i have no idea how to switch users at all now that i typed that email address into it. It automatically signs me in, which is good for ease of use but frustrating right now as i would like to just try typing in my other email!

If purchased resources are not available for mobile use, they do not show in http://biblia.com

If cannot login to http://biblia.com with other email, then not need to change Logos 4 login.
Wiki => Logos 4 Keyboard Shortcuts For Mac includes:
Sign In tip: launch Logos 4, then quickly press and hold command key until Sign In appears – can click “Use blank layout”, then Sign in
Option: before clicking Sign in, can change login account and password.

As KS4J mentioned, if a resource is not mobile enabled, it will not show up on biblia.com.
Am I understanding right that your base package is (or most of) showing up on biblia.com? That is a good sign. You said that other purchases are not on there. Can you give us a title to look up?

Sure, i have the expositors biblical commentaries as well as the preachers commentaries collections. I have wayne Grudem systematic Theology. Those are a couple.

Jonathan - Checking those out, it appears that they are mobile enabled, so they should show up on biblia.com. Did you purchase these from Logos directly, or from a third party?

Noticing Expositor's Bible Commentary => The Expositor's Bible Commentary (EBC) (12 vols.) , => The Preacher's Commentary , and => Systematic Theology: An Introduction to Biblical Doctrine have mobile icons on their product pages so they should appear in http://biblia.com when you are signed in using your Logos.com account (typically email address used for initial registration). Biblia does have library search.
When not signed into http://biblia.com , the library has 47 Bibles and 3 other resources. For me, my library in http://biblia.com has 10 more resources than Vyrso mobile app along with 89 % of the resources in my Logos 4 library.

the extra resources that i have purchased are not there. on my iPad they do show that they are mobile enabled so i do know that they should be showing up. sorry about this. it must be getting old for you! I appreciate your help though! Logos seems to recognize that i have an account with them on this computer but for some reason my package nor extra purchased content does not show up. Its like i have registered with them but never actually bought anything from them.

Jonathan - On your iPad, the books are showing up? If so, go to "more | settings" and see what email address is showing up.

You might want to edit out your email address. You'll get less spam that way...
I assume that the email address was the one that you expected to see, right? Is it the one you are using in Logos 4 on your Mac? [To check, click on "Logos Bible Software 4" then "About Logos Bible Software 4." Your email address will be listed after "Licensed to:"] If the answer is yes to both, I think you will have to call Logos on Monday. You could try to uninstall and redownload the app, but it is puzzling to me why the books would show up on your iPad, but not on biblia.com.

Not good! Can't seem to get it working! It recognizes that I have an account but shows null for library and resources. Funny thing that I just downloaded logos 4 Mac but did not have to do anything else! It seems like it skipped steps or something! I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, same thing. Not sure what to do anymore!

Does the Logos app on your iPad show your library ?
If so, did you login to Logos 4 Mac using same account as your iPad ?
Note: in the Logos app on your iPad, tapping More, then Settings shows Account signed in.
Wiki Mac Troubleshooting => Uninstalling and Reinstalling in Logos 4 Mac has steps to completely uninstall, then install.
Other option is contacting Logos Mac Support => http://www.logos.com/about/contact phone lines open on Monday at 6 am Pacific Time; with your permission, Logos can share desktop with you.

What you have downloaded it the application engine only. Once you launch it and sign in, it should begin the process of downloading your purchased resources. When that is complete, indexing will begin. This is a long process which is best left for overnight. Just set you System Preferences to prevent sleep while indexing is taking place.

Just a question on that, does it say it is doing that or seem like it is downloading and synchronizing? It doesn't seem like its doing anything but I have not left it on long enough to do anything cause it seemed to just be sitting there?

The Logos indexer downloads resource files, then indexes them for use.
Wiki Mac and PC User Interface Differences => Indexer Icon has Mac and PC screen shots showing Blue Logos icon on menu bar (right side). Hovering mouse over icon or clicking icon shows status for downloading, then indexing.
