Cross-references and charts from Study Bibles

I would suggest that making a cross-reference resource from the study bibles would be helpful. e.g. I have Ryrie's study bible. I wish I could make use of the extensive cross-references in that hard-copy bible in Logos.

Also, there are many charts and maps throughout the study bible which would be easier to find if there were a table of charts and maps which could be used to find helpful charts rather than scrolling through the whole reference work.

Mike - Do you not own the Ryrie study bible in Logos? Does it not have the cross references? Where are the cross references in the print bible?

I own the bible in print, in Logos, and in another software package. In the Print version the cross references are in the margins. In the other software they are available as an alternative to ntsk. In logos they are not to be found. Also in the other software they provide a list of all charts and maps which is helpful.

After your post I followed up with the ESV study bible. There was a similar thread with people complaining about the cross references. I believe that they are imbedded in the text of the ESV itself. If not, my ESV sure has a lot of cross references. Perhaps yours does as well? I don't own the Ryrie Study Bible. It is my understanding that Logos sells various versions of it, linked to specific translations (i.e. NIV, NASB, etc). Do you know which translation yours is linked to? Have you checked that translation itself to see if they are there?

Mike, I did a little spot checking and found to my surprise that the cross references in my Logos NASB95 version are in the same spot, with the same letters and the same cross-references as are in my print Ryrie Study Bible (NASB95). This was a brief check and over just a couple of chapters in the NT, but everything was identical. I don't know how to explain this unless these cross references are in the NASB95 text and the Ryrie editors decided to use them. Perhaps someone from Logos can tell us, but it seems to me that at least in the NASB95 version you may already have all you are looking for.

I believe that resources like the Study Bibles is where the Passage Guide Cross Reference section gets its information. I know it does not get the references from the TSK or the NTSK. I think it finds all the cross references in the bibles, puts them in a list, and then bolds the references that appear in multiple resources. It would be nice to have Logos confirm this along with the resources that section gets its information from.

Steve posted ESV Study Bible Charts a year ago. It should be easy enough to convert his .doc to .docx and compile it as a PB. If you do, please post the new file in that thread, and add a link under Other Resources in User Contributed Personal Books. I would have done it myself already if I owned the resource, but I don't. I have, however, converted Sean Boisen's Index of L4 Maps if anyone is interested.

It's been a while since I have tried… but does L4 Mac have problems with page offsets? The links take you to the right page, but not to the location of the charts.

Sorry for the delay. I have the niv and nasb ryrie study bible notes in Logos. I believe they are the same even though they are two different resources.

The nasb has cross references in the text, but those have been there as a part of the nasb before I had any study bibles.

The niv does not really have any cross references other than the specific of quotations which are found in all Niv footnotes.

The niv is more where I was wishing the cross references from the study bible would become available. I do not use the passage guide much I in my studies I use predefined layouts and linked resources for most of my studies. I used to study primarily using the nasb. But since logos has the ggreek tied into the niv now, and most people in the church are using niv. I am studying now I. The niv. The main thing I miss are cross references

Maybe I misunderstand, but the screen shot below definitely shows cross references in the text of the NIV2011. Since I don't have an NIV version of the Ryrie Study Bible to compare these to, I don't know if they are the same, but there are cross references in the NIV. Are we talking about something else?
