Logos 4 Advanced Searching Filters: Where are they?

I'm trying to do a search on "Day of the Lord". In Libronix 3 I could use something like "Day within 3 words Lord" and get some pretty good results. I cant seem to use those types of searches anymore.

I need a "clue".

You are close with the suggestion - it  needed to be Day WITHIN 3 words Lord (no quotes).
But you can get a more exact result (with topics!) if you perform a Basic Search on the phrase across Entire Library ie. "Day of the Lord" (with quotes).

OR (dare I say) searching a collection of dictionary and "handbook"type references for that phrase....

Wow. Thanks for the resource Dave. Based on the page you listed I was able to string together this search: "day of" WITHIN 2 words (Lord, Jehovah, wrath, anger)

This brought back 39 Verses (ESV)

But, IMHO God "alluded" to this same time period in Genesis 3:15

I will put enmity between you and the woman,
and between your offspring and her offspring;
he shall bruise your head,
and you shall bruise his heel.”

Is not the "bruising of the head" also an allusion to the Day of the Lord"?

So, what i'm asking is... is there a way to search SCRIPTURES for a topic like "Day of the Lord" and get results (Verses) which address the TOPIC "Day of the Lord" but may not contain any of those WORDS (for example pulling up Gen 3:15, etc.)?

That's where Dave's second suggestion and Bob's suggestion comes in handy. You can search your entire library for "Day of the Lord" (in quotes) and find plenty of places where it is discussed. Or if you put together a specific collectin of resources you like (dictionaries, handbooks, commentaries, etc) you can search that collection for the phrase. This will help you find places that others consider a reference to the Day of the Lord even where it is not mentioned specifically in those words.

EDIT - sorry, I just noticed your specific question. No, there is no way (that I know of) to search the Bible for topics (apart from searching for the words you're interested in). You need to search resources that deal with topics in the Bible. But there's really no difference. Even if there were a topically tagged Bible, it would still be someone's interpretation. So searching a reference book that lists scriptures on a topic, rather than searching the Bible itself for that topic accomplishes the same purpose.

I agree with what David has said. There are many references in topical bibles/dictionaries for "day of the lord" or "that day" (as suggested in the TOPIC section of Basic Search) and Logos are working to further improve suggestions for topics to provide the widest spread of relevant results possible. Libronix would provide the widest spread, but you often had to figure out their relevance/accuracy.

Just for interest sake I did a reference search for Gen 3:15 in the same resources but it was not found under either of the topics mentioned above! The closest were "promise" and "tribulation".

I'm trying to create a search to find anarthrous nominative Greek nouns before the greek verb ειμι - Granville Sharpe's Rule. Using UBS Interlinear with Logos Morph

I can't get a string to work. I've tried @NN ANDNOT lemma:ho AND lemma:eimi - the ho and eimi resolve into greek. not right. I've tried @NN ANDNOT @DN AND lemma:eimi I've tried BEFORE in place of the AND. I tried - instead of ANDNOT

I get results sometimes. But not the right results.

What am I doing wrong or what do I need to do right?

I don't think this is Granville Sharpe's (famous) Rule but it still presents a challenge.

The basic query is (@NN BEFORE 3 words
lemma:εἰμί) producing 1216 hits/532 verses. If we used (@NN AND
lemma:εἰμί) the words can occur
anywhere in the verse, in any order giving 4576 hits /1522 verses! But you specified before and I
made sure they are related by requiring they be no more than 3 words apart.

Now we have to specify where the article is to be excluded:-

(@NN BEFORE 3 words lemma:εἰμί) ANDNOT  (lemma:ὁ  BEFORE 1 words @NN) ==> 516/235

ie. we don’t want it close to the noun. But that could be any nom. noun, so we have to be more specific:-

(@NN BEFORE 3 words lemma:εἰμί) ANDNOT  (lemma:ὁ  BEFORE 1 words @NN BEFORE 3 words lemma:εἰμί)  ==>745/337

So now you can fine tune the position of
the article so it is not related to the noun, and how far apart the noun and
verb can be. Syntax search will provide more relevant results.

NB. my results come from LGNTI, but UBS4 Int produces similar results (750/339 for the final query).
