Two Monitor Operation Options

I'm currently having trouble running on-air with a two monitor system. I would like to see the preview mode on my monitor in the back, while just showing the current slide on our projector. I still have a preview screen while in On-Air mode until I go to maximize the single slide screen. My preview mode screen seems to still be open, but it is moved behind the single slide screen on the projector screen, and I am left with nothing on my computer monitor. Currently my main monitor is set as my computer screen and my extended monitor is my projector. What am I doing wrong? I've used several other church presentation software in the past and never had this problem. I'd hate to revert back to mediashout, because I LOVE what Proclaim has to offer, but my volunteers are insisting on a preview screen in the back.

Hmm, that should be no problem for Proclaim.

Just so I'm clear, you have your main Proclaim window on Monitor 1 (the computer) and the Presentation window on Monitor 2 (the Projector). Then, when you set the Presentation window to Full Screnn the Main Proclaim window moves to the Projector as well?

If so, you can always turn Full Screen off and drag the Main window back to the desired location.

That's correct as to the monitor and projector. I've tried your suggestion and as soon as I reinstate full screen mode it pulls the main proclaim window back to Monitor 2 (Projector) behind the Presentation Window.

I'll try again tonight when I return to the church just to be absolutely sure. Sometimes when you're troubleshooting you think you did something you didn't...even though your pretty sure you did.

Alright, I'm surrently sitting at the computer trying to make it work yet again. Even when I escape from full screen mode and drag the Main Proclaim window back to my primary screen it goes right back to the secondary screen as soon as I select to return to full screen mode. However, if I switch things around and put the main window on my secondary screen and the presentation window on the primary screen, everything works fine. The problem with that is that my windows task bar shows up on the projector and even if I make it disappear, then I can't access it if needed. Any other thoughts? I kind of wish that I had more access to the program functions.

In your windows display settings, which monitor is checked as being the main monitor ?

What happens if you change which is designated by windows as the main monitor ?

I have been testing multiple monitors in many different configurations and have yet to be able to reproduce what you report.

It would be great to see your monitor settings from Windows.

The main monitor is the monitor in my media room and it is marked as such on my display settings window. When I change the main monitor to the projector screen and drag the Main Proclaim window to the media room monitor and leave the presentation screen on the projector screen. The problem with this is that most of my volunteers can't understand how to operate the computer unless the task bar is on the media room monitor. It should work either way, but unfortunately it doesn't. We ran it in this inconvenient configuration on Sunday without any hiccups until the guy who uploads the sermon each week came in to use it and couldn't figure out how to return the primary monitor to the usual screen. I've trained him, but we have several more volunteers who can barely run Word, much less adjust display settings. My only other thought is that the machine is running on 32-bit Vista. We all know the hiccups that OS had, perhaps there could be some unusual cause there.

I will try to run Proclaim from my laptop in my youth room this week and see if I get the same issue. Thanks for those who have posted. I love the program, but I've got to convince my volunteers that it's worth the switch and this issue has already turned some of them off.

Ah, I think I see what you are doing now.

If I understand correctly, the sequence of events looks like:

Monitor 1 (Media Room) is set to be the Main monitor. Monitor 2 is the Projector.
Set Monitor 2 to Main.
Open Proclaim, go On-Air and drag the editor window to Monitor 1.
Set Monitor 1 to Main.

This does indeed cause problems. We will look into that.

I am curious as to why you don't leave your Media Room monitor as your main monitor at all times. It is not necessary to set your Projector to Main in order to present on it.

Hunter, I think what Chad is saying is that making the projector his main monitor is a work around to get it to work. We have the same issue and the way I got it to work was in the display settings to place the secondary monitory higher than the primary monitor. This works, but it can be a bit confusing when you want to move the mouse to the secondary monitor as it feels unnatural to move the mouse up and to the right to get to it.

I would like this to be fixed as well because I would rather have the monitors set even with each other like this:

That's correct. I've only started changing my monitors due to this issue. It was never a problem with MediaShout. I tried repositioning my monitors with my secondary (projector) above my primary monitor and everything worked the way it was supposed to. Now I won't have to switch my primary display. However, I would really like to see a fix for this so that my monitors can be located side by side like most of my volunteers are used to. It really does feel unnatural to move up instead of right to access the extended desktop. Now we just need DVD and Powerpoint intergration and the ability to put outter strokes on the text in all forms, not just songs. Other than those items, the program is near perfect and so much better than any other presentation software I've personally used to date.

That is very interesting. I find that following the workaround you are using causes that problem for me. This demonstrates the variability of different setups and hardware.

We will be continuing to look into this issue and will hopefully have a fix sometime soon.

In the meantime, an easier workaround for you might be to select the Main Proclaim window from the task bar (while it is hidden behind the presenter) and then hitting the Windows Key + Arrows to move the Main window back to the Media monitor.
