BUG and annoyances: Logos' bad memory

a) Print/export. Virtually every time I want to print/export I have to change US Letter to A4 (the setting stays put during one session, but reverts to default on restart). I very much doubt that I will ever use US Letter -- I don't even know what it looks like -- so why am I stuck with it? (And why, by the way, doesn't the print/export window close by itself? How likely is it that I want to print the same thing twice?)
Logos 4.5c Beta 3 on Mac and PC appears to keep print/export setting (e.g. A4).
Unfortunately, neither 4.5c nor 4.6 has fixed this for me.
Nor has 4.6a.

c) Favorites. Every time I open Favorites I have to start by collapsing Bookmarks, so that I get enough space to see the folders.
I was unable to reproduce this in 4.5c Beta 4; once I collapsed the Bookmarks section in my Favorites panel, it persisted that way.
Unfortunately, neither 4.5c nor 4.6 has fixed this for me.
Nor has 4.6a.
Has there ever even been a case filed for this?

e) Favorites. When I've finally gotten all folders like I want them, then all I have to do is to click New Folder and, voilà, one or more folders close again! (Happens very often, but not always.) This one, at least, has got to be a bug!
Logos 4.5c Release Candidate 1 keeps folder(s) open when creating a new folder.
Confirmed fixed in 4.6; don't know if I ever checked in 4.5c.
BUT the second part of the bug is still there:
fgh said:This bug also occurs when deleting a favorite.
Ann Boyles said:This has been fixed in 4.6a when creating a New Folder and deleting a folder.
No, it's still only partially fixed. Main folders remain open, subfolders still close.
And it still annoys me that all folders close when Favorites is closed, and have to be reopened the next time.

g) Collections. I have layouts where the Collections tab turns up with a particular collection chosen, so at one point Logos did remember my setting. Now, however, it seems impossible to update those layouts to show other collections instead, and equally impossible to create a favorite opening to a particular collection.
I can confirm that Layouts and Favorites now save with the correct Collection chosen.
However, I was led to believe from Possible Mac Bug and certainly annoyance: Saving Collections on Favorites or Toolbar that shortcuts would also work, but they didn't. (I forgot to try via Favorites, though.)

Apologies: using Logos 4.6a SR-1 on OS X 10.8.2, unable to replicate:
Edit: renamed "New Folder" to "62 Mark", then dragged within "Biography & Historical" folder did close "65 Acts" folder. In contrast, created a "New Folder" using Logos 4.6a SR-1 on Windows 7, renamed to "63 Luke", then dragged within "Biography & Historical" folder left "65 Acts" folder open.
Added an item to Feature Parity list => http://wiki.logos.com/Mac_and_PC_User_Interface_Differences#Feature_Parity
- PC Favorites keeps main and sub folders open while dragging to rearrange folders while Mac closes some sub folders

Expanding Visual Filters subfolder, then clicking New Folder. Subfolder collapses:
Expanding Visual Filters subfolder, then deleting New Folder. Subfolder collapses:
Also noticed you seemed to have been able to create a folder directly within another folder, which I thought was still impossible on Mac, so I did some experimenting.
Clicking Filer > Create New Folder created a new folder at the bottom of Favorites, not within the Filer folder where it should have been:
Clicking Visual Filters > Create New Folder created a new folder within the Filer folder, not within the Visual Filters subfolder where it should have been:

KS4J, does issue a) still work for you, like you claimed it did in 4.5c Beta 3? It never has for me, in any release.

Using Logos 4.6a SR-1 on OS X 10.8.2, printed a selection using A4 page setting, closed Print/Export, changed location in resource, choose Print/Export, which still has A4 page setting:

You can drag the folder into a sub folder.
I know, but the whole idea was to not have to do that:
fgh said:What I really would like would be to be able to select a folder before clicking and get the new folder added as a subfolder to that one, instead of at the bottom of the list.

So it does for me:

The question was if you can restart and still keep the A4 setting.

Surprisingly No. Also changed System Preferences for default printer to A4 before launching Logos 4.6a SR-1. Personally wish for change to use default page size for the default printer instead of custom (8.5 in x 11 in).

There is currently an open case for this issue.fgh said:Ah! Now I get it. They seem to have 'forgotten' to add a box for selecting how many copies you want... Smart. So if you want more than one, you either have to click Print several times, or, if you want more than a few, export to pdf instead, so that you can print from there. Well, the solution to that isn't to keep the window open, it's to add that missing box.
There is a case for this issue. I have added a the link to this tread to the case.fgh said:fgh said:fgh said:e) Favorites. Weird that you and Ann can't reproduce this, when I have never ever been able not to reproduce it. Have you tried on 10.6? KS4J seems to confirm it on page 1, so it's not just me.
Thanks for creating the other cases. You noticed the post where folders were created in the wrong place? I know Ann created a case for that long ago, but it might need updating, as it turns out it behaves a bit differently that I first thought.
Parity issue?

I cannot reproduce this issue either in 4.6a SR-2 using 10.6. I'm not quite sure what kind of information from your system would be useful in trying to track down where the issue lies for you. It is unlikely that there is anything recorded in the logs regarding this behavior. Maybe a screencast?
I tried opening/closing the panel, and quitting/restarting the app with the panel closed and open and the Bookmarks section stayed collapsed each time. Is there anything particular about how you are accessing that panel? From a shortcut or the Command box? A saved layout containing that panel?

Sorry for not getting back to you. My inbox has been flooded with a thousand posts a day or so lately, so things get kind of lost...[:)]
You are smarter than I am! I must have always opened from my shortcut. Replaced the shortcut, and it now works as I want! In fact, I can even set it up so that the shortcut opens with Bookmarks collapsed, and Tools>Favorites opens with Bookmarks expanded. How very ironical that one of the issues reported as Logos' bad memory turns out to be caused by Logos having better memory than I expected![:O][:D] Sorry to have wasted your time.[:$]

b) Library. When I close down with the Library open, I would wish it opened the way I left off, but currently I can't even make my choices stick in a saved layout. E g yesterday I created a specific Layout to create PB's in. It included the Library sorted by Last Updated and had edition:user in the reference box, so that I would only see the PB's -- but, of course, when I next opened it, both of those settings were gone.
I have created a case for this.
Rosie just added her own plea for this at Please remember sort column in Library from session to session.

Subfolders closing will be fixed in 4.6b Beta 1 and 5.0b Beta 1 for beta testers, and in general when 4.6b and 5.0b ship to the stable channel.

New bug report from Rosie on the same issue: BUG (or design flaw?) - L 5.0a SR-2: Create new folder in Favorites creates sibling not child.

I just realized this still isn't properly fixed (or maybe it's come back). I don't have time to test for exact steps (initial testing seemed somewhat random), but I've encountered several cases where clicking New Folder when a [sub]folder was selected has resulted in the folder closing, but also cases when the subfolder has instead expanded. And the selection simultaneously moves to somewhere else.
Also, when you right-click on something, that something doesn't get selected. It's a bit nervous to delete things when you can't see for sure that you're deleting the right thing...
And I've waited a loooooong time for fixes to other bugs in this thread.[;)]
