Mediashout

Where are we on the implementation of importing songs from Mediashout? Back in October of 2011 we were told that this was being worked on. Any updates on this feature?

Thanks in advance!

    Dasan,

This is probably a separate question and should be asked in a different thread, but are you transitioning from Mediashout to Proclaim and what features and tools encouraged your transition?  I have Mediashout and have considered looking at Proclaim, but I'm not interested in shelling out a whole bunch of money since I've only had Mediashout less than three years.

    Thanks for your input,

    Richard

    Richard,

We've attempted to make the jump from Mediashout to Proclaim because of the cloud and signals features. These two things seem to work as we expected. But the transition for music has been a nightmare. I'll be honest, I've taken the lead on Proclaim and have been working w/ it for about 3 months. A certain learning curve is to be expected, but we're struggling to find an easy way to efficiently edit lyrics as we want w/ Proclaim. All of the changes that we need/want can be done but the process is cumbersome to say the least.  We're hoping to hear that Logos still has plans to allow us to import our lyrics, otherwise I think the idea of switching is going to be put on the shelf for awhile.

    Hope that helps.

Thank you for your feedback! We will most certainly be adding support for importing from Mediashout.

The next features to be added will be greater support for PlanningCenterOnline.com sermons and the Webpage item. Then, we'll be adding support for Powerpoint.

Mediashout integration will be coming sometime after that.

    Thanks,

    Hunter,

I appreciate your quick response. I also appreciate that your team is looking into mediashout integration in the future. But, do you have any type of timeline what so ever? Is mediashout something we can expect by this summer......fall.......2013? Again I understand that there are a lot of features on the table, however, a more precise idea of when to expect our particular need will greatly help in making our decision on sticking with your product.

    Thanks again!

FYI... I do not trust anything that Logos puts out as a timeline.  Their track record on when they are going to release a product is the worst track record of any other company I know IMHO (even worst than Microsoft).

I understand your concern. Mediashout will be coming in the next round of improvements after we release the features I mentioned previously.

Exactly when is going to be determined by how long it takes us to perfect those other features. If everything comes together flawlessly (not likely) it could be fairly soon.

These features have the possibility to be very complex depending on our implementation so there is a lot of potential concern there.

I'll have more information for you on the release of the next enhancements.

    Thanks,

Thank you, that helps a lot.  I think that I'm going to wait until all the bugs are worked out before I even think about making a transition.

    God bless, R

any updates on Mediashout importing?  i've had Mediashout crash 6 times in the last 2 services, so i'm in need of another option, but i have a LOT of songs already formatted in Mediashout...

    Hi David,

We do support importing songs from MediaShout, which you can do via the "Import Songs" option on the account dropdown menu in the upper right.

If you'd like to give it a try, you can download Proclaim for free on the website and import some songs (and create presentations, etc.) to see how you like it. Once you've decided, you can purchase a license to take your presentations On Air without watermarks.

I've followed the export rules for Mediashout and can see all the songs in Proclaim, and after pressing enter between verses I get each verse/chorus on different slides, but how does the Verse order work?
    For example:

    Verse 1:

When I Survey the wondrous cross

On which the Prince of Glory died,

My richest gain I count but loss,

And pour contempt on all my pride.

    Verse 2:

See from His head, His hands, His feet,

    Sorrow and love flow mingled down;

Did e'er such love and sorrow meet

Or thorns compose so rich a crown?

    Verse 3:

Were the whole realm of nature mine,

That were an offering far too small.

    Love so amazing, so divine

Demands my soul, my life, my all.

    Chorus 1:

    Oh, the wonderful cross,

    Oh, the wonderful cross

Bids me come and die and find

    That I may truly live.

    Oh, the wonderful cross,

    Oh, the wonderful cross,

All who gather here by grace

Draw near and bless Your name.

Now if I want to add an extra Chorus between the verses I thought I could put
    Verse 1:, Chorus 1:, Verse 2:, Chorus 1:, Verse 3:, Chorus 1
But that fails to move the slides. Am I going to have to copy and paste the chorus on each, or am I just writing the verse order command wrongly?

    Try this...

Notice the lack of colons in my example ie Chorus 1, not Chorus 1:,

Thanks Mike, I finally got it working by typing:
    1, Chorus 1, 2, Chorus 1, 3, Chorus 1
    If I typed
    Verse 1, Chorus 1, Verse 2, Chorus 1, Verse 3, Chorus 1
then it failed, though it I must say it is easier to write '1' instead of 'Verse 1'.
