Welcome to the Faithlife forum. Please let us know your thoughts, suggestions, questions and feedback. Thanks!
Hello Di,
I am all for it – but the big question is can we run it? If not then from where would we get our thoughts, needless to say our questions and or feedback.
Without some form of interaction with what it is that we are not supposed to use until it is released seems superfluous to ask things from us - would not you agree?
-or-
Do we take from your posting as such that we now have the go on and run it pink slip?

I didn't realize we weren't supposed to download and start using the FSP app. Oops. Well, I hope it's okay that I did.
As for thoughts about it, I posted some initial thoughts yesterday on the forums, but I would revise one of those. I had mentioned that it was going really slow for me. That got resolved once I downloaded some of the resources to my iPad. However, I do have one additional thought:
This app seems like it has a lot of promise for getting visitors connected into the life of the church through an online Bible study discussion. However, I'm not sure very many visitors would be willing to pay $20 for such a feature. I can see our regular members doing that, as they have no problem paying $10-20 for a good book study. But if there was a way to offer a trial period (say, 2-3 months?) to entice first-time visitors, it would be helpful. (of course, this doesn't take effect until 2014 when the free period via coupon expires, so we'll have time to see how well it actually connects with visitors)

Rev Chris: iPad vs Netbook? read
I went with the netbook. I did not have to many problems except with some text in an unrelated issue.
But, as much as I would like to voice some things, I feel somewhat obligated to refrain due to Bob's postings in regards to the matter.
No offence Di, but until I can get confirmation from Bob, I think I will pass.....

I am looking forward to using this. On the IOS app it crashes when trying to download books. Then when i restart the app it says the books have been downloaded, but cannot be found on the device.

I have a question - I downloaded the Faithlife Study Bible app for my iPhone, but was unable to install it as the app requires iOS5 and my iPhone uses iOS4. Is there going to be a version of the app that will run on iOS4?

It's time to start checking it out!
We're opening up Faithlife -- you can check it out now. Log in with your existing Logos.com account.
- This is a beta. It works, it's up, and the data is live. It is is connected to your existing Logos.com account. (It is your Logos.com account.) But you may encounter bugs. If so, please report them here.
- This is a "soft launch." We'll be rolling out improvements every few days. If you have a friend you really want to invite to try it out so you can join a group together, go ahead. But please hold off blogging and "public promotion" just a little longer. Consider yourself invited to a limited beta program! :-)
- The Faithlife Study Bible is a new product that complements Faithlife.com. It will enter beta in the next few days.
- Tech support is not available by phone or email yet. Post questions here.
What should you do first?
Visit. Watch the intro video, read the privacy policy, visit the help pages. Then log in with your Logos.com account and edit your profile.
Your church may already have a group; if not it's probably being added in the next day or so. You can go ahead and create groups, but keep in mind one will probably already exist for your church. You might want to make one for your small group or some other group.
Note: There is not yet a group deletion mechanism. (There will be later.) And we're still finalizing group identifiers, etc. so the URL of your new group might change in the next few days.
You can Join, Follow, or Observe the "Faithlife Beta" group if you want to hang out and talk with other beta users.
(For now, I'll see if our help and videos are enough to help you understand the difference between those different ways of connecting!)
Thanks for helping us test things out!
-- Bob

Tip: Proclaim Groups are also Faithlife groups. So you can talk with your presentation team. (More functionality coming soon, too!)
Proclaim groups all have "Presentation Team" at the end, to distinguish them from a general group for the church.

Thanks Bob, thats what I needed.
So theres a 'Faithlife beta' group already established and it is in 'open' setting. okay I see it. So i will post there some of my thoughts concerning the 'trial run' that was done. We already had a few thoughts.
Are we, you and I, free to discuss somethings openly here? Now....
Thanks.
[[[edit: I joined the beta group but i already get a posting error..?]]
[[[second edit: I click the post button and get the error - i can click 'about or members' then return and my post is visible as it should be.....why the error and then having to leave the discussion area just to return?]]

Bob,
That link has somehow been truncated and won't work as a link. Pasting the URL into a web browser does.

Room4more,
You should read a bit more before your start replying.
I did say: Pasting the URL into a web browser does.
Pasting works, clicking on the link doesn't. Obviously typing it in will work, too. I said this so Bob could update his link for those who aren't as smart as you.
So yes I can see it.

Downloaded the study Bible package. Like the set. It links to books that are already unlocked in my library.

That's because you aren't in the know and haven't been given the secret password............................and neither have I [:(]
Maybe Bob will accidentally post it in public somewhere [:D]

the secret password
Since it is officially in beta, I would expect everything to be public knowledge. Unless it has been changed the password is faithlife.

Or perhaps I am thinking of the coupon code. You sign in just like you do any other time in Logos.

I doubt that everything is public knowledge given the NDA statement on the page now. I would guess access will be granted to people strictly by invitation only at the moment

My password, the coupon code, email address, none of them work.

No. Don't confuse faithlife.com with faithlifebible.com. The former takes a Logos sign on, the latter now requires a password which is neither the Logos ID password nor "faithlife". I don't know it either. Maybe this is the quick solution to have the site up for dev & test but without too eager beta testers disturbing the work.
Faithlife is for the community, the bible notes (as far as they're working) are on biblia, the FSB in Logos - let's wait what they put under faithlifebiblia.

Sorry for the misinformation, I hadn't known of that site. I have mostly been plugging around in the iOS Faithlife app.

We are missing something......?
Biblia messes up when you add notes, faithlife seems somewhat limited, so we are missing something.....
Biblia:
you can add a note to one version but it corrupts that version and the only visable version for the note is the NET, appartently. It does pull up some resources from your library, i tried the copy paste into a note and it appears to work, but then I deleted the note.....it seems that you can post straight from biblia to your groups but when you do the note/post goes into never never cyber-land. I have not found the post in any of my groups public or private - but it went somewhere..../? So who got it? you can see it in biblia but nowhere else. You can do a share of a verse and post it as a share and direct it to a group...maybe thats it/?
Faithlife:
seems relatively simple. Not much going on there; you can add a group; but posting in the group requires you to slow down on your posting it has a time lapse/response time/ for others to see your post, possibly because of the intergration with something else - maybe the whole of the program i dunno. can't find the calander as it states in the video but I think that is in the group settings i will have to recheck, i think that it was under 'events' -just checked did not see anything. maybe its from faithlifebible.../?[i left a trail of posts in 'faithlife beta' this should help...]
Overall:
I know its just beta, so we must be missing something.
Well theres some feed back................

Room,
You just closed the christadelphian group, right? Now i can see on biblia that there's a note in James 4:1, but can't see its content. Wanted to change back from follower to member and it seems you need to allow me.

Ok. Done. I had to try something to see where it went…

thanks. I now see this is still Alex' note on James 4:1 (and probably the one that kills display of James 4 in HSBC, ESV and NIV...)

Yes that’s correct. He will have to sign in and delete it. I just hope that it has no effect on other groups…Maybe someone reading can sign in to biblia.com and see what they get and tell us here...
