It seems adding a "Bible" slide, the default is to have a signal added. I don't want that. Is there a way to remove the signal?

That is correct. Signals added automatically by bible items cannot be removed at this time.
If you're absolutely opposed to them, you could copy the bible text you wanted into a Content item which does not add that signal.
