vyrso on strike - help!
Vyrso had been working perfectly. I have the latest update, can't tell you which, because vyrso won't open as from today. I'm offline aT HOME. I was using it online at friends'n house till Friday. Since then it was working perfectly till this morning. I tried to open ESV from history. No response. This sometimes happens, so I did what I always do when history won't give me a book. I deleted it from history list and tried to go to library to open it. No joy. It wouldn't go to library, or to reading view, where I had been, or anywhere else. I killed the app. Wouldn't open. Started to open, then closed. Power down. Same thing happened. Now I can't open vyrso. it starts to open, then closes.
Any advice? I can go online later this morning. What could I try then?
L4 seems to be working perfectly. No, I lie! Tried to get ESV in L4 library, and just got a tyndale commentary and some grayed out books below it. Searched for bible and got ASV, which did the trick for me.

I see from the ipad forum that there's a bug connected to ESV. Presumably my problem is connected to that. I still need advice about how to get vyrso to start! I'd prefer not to uninstall it as downloading resources is slow here.
On second thoughts, better to reinstall it with the few books I'm actually reading at the moment than to be without it completely ..... How do I reinstall it? ?Delete app, then redownload it from app store?

Yes. But before you do that… Have you done a complete shut down of the app? What about a complete shut down of the iPad?

Still no joy offline. Will download vyrso bks İm reading to logos app for now. Hope theyll soon fix bug. Thanks for getting back to me!

This morning, Tuesday, vyrso suddenly decided to work perfectly offline. This afternoon I went online, downloaded some new books (not ESV - I've deleted that for the time being!) and came home, where I'm offline. Tried to open vyrso - and it refused. Killed the app and did a power off. It still refuses. What I don't understand is why it worked this morning. [:'(] [:'(] [:'(] [:'(]

When you say that it worked this morning… when were you online last? When did you use Vyrso online last? How many apps did you use after using Vyrso online? Was the last app used while online Vyrso?
When you have internet, is the sync wheel spinning for a long time, or short?

I was online yesterday afternoon. vyrso worked online, but refused to open in aeroplane mode. Worked again online. I left it in reading mode with a book I was reading, in the hope that it might open there. I then came home, offline. This morning to my relief it opened at the book at which I had left it in reading mode. I then, greatly daring, tried opening books from the recent history arrow on the reading page. That worked. So did opening books from library. (It had previously refused to go into any of these other modes when open and then refused to open when closed). Thinking the problem was solved, I went online today and downloaded new freebies. Came home to read them, offline, and it again refuses to open! As I've put the car away, I don't feel like getting it out again to go into town and back on to the internet.
I can't remember if vyrso was the last app I used when online. I did play around with various apps, downloaded some updates on logos app, and updates of other apps. Played with maps.Vyrso had, in fact, disappeared off the bottom ribbon that appears when you press the ?sleep button twice to access your most recent apps.

re sync wheel, I take it you mean on vyrso. I didn't notice how long it spun. It spins a long time on my dial up internet at home on L4 on my laptop.
vyrso library had previously been behaving oddly.When I selected edition:e and tapped Download all to get my new vyrso books, it didn't download. I think it may have gone out of library. It worked when I downloaded them one by one.

Nicky - I assume you are on Vyrso 2.1, but perhaps not?
The reason I asked the question about your iPad usage is that I was trying to figure out if iOS was keeping something in memory that was allowing it to work, but when the app went to find something online was causing it to stop.
By the way, what happens when "it doesn't work"? Does it not open at all? Does it open, but then crash?

I was asking this because I am curious to find out if the app is trying to download something that has never finished. I have had app crashes related to this, but it is much easier to diagnose when I have a fair internet at home.

I've installed the latest vyrso update. Can't tell you the number for certain as it won't open enough to tell me! It opens a page that says something like VYRSO by logos bible software, and then closes.
It seemed to take ages opening the library when online, and then closed it if I asked it to Download All.
When I first had it and it wouldn't open, last summer, the problem resolved itself after I turned on my (non-internet) network modem, even tho ipad won't connect with the other computers. ipad says it's on my home network. But now that doesn't encourage vyrso to open. when I went online yesterday, I exited vyrso in reading mode on a downloaded book, and it started perfectly this morning, offline. I may have left it somewhere it was less comfortable today. On Thursday I should be in town and able to go online. I'll try leaving vyrso on the read page and see if that helps. I'll also try to notice what the spinning pizza does. Till then I shall have to do my logos vyrso reading on the LOgos app on the ipad. How spoilt we are to have both apps! In fact I consider myself very spoilt to have the chance to read in such comfort on the ipad.
I'll let you know if there's any change....

Since I am on beta, I don't remember when Vyrso 2.1 was released. It was at least a week ago, so you are probably up to date.
Do you remember how to post logs from the app (by emailing them to yourself)? You might want to post them here when you get online next. Let me know if I need to give you those directions.

I installed the last vyrso update they offered me. I always check for new updates when I'm online.
Please give me instructions for posting logs from the app. Do I have to do it via iTunes? Hope not! Had iTunes refusing to connect for a week or so, and members of the forum who asked apple for help got no joy. Eventually it turned out the update was incompatible with DAP etc, so I uninstalled that and got my podcasts back. The joys of computing! I lost my itunes library at one point, but eventually relocated it...
I may not download my logs before Easter, particulkarly if I need to do it via itunes, as life is a bit hectic at the moment.

Nicky - No need to use iTunes. (not for these ones at least) [:)]
- Open Vyrso
- Click the "More" button (bottom right)
- Click the "About" tab
- Scroll the screen to the bottom & press "Send support info." (if you receive a privacy warning, click "ok")
- This will open an email dialog. Change the "to" address to your own email address.
- This will allow you to send the log to yourself, which you can download the attachment and post here.

Nicky - I generally have good internet, especially when I am using my iPad (which I use primarily at home with a good wifi / DSL combo). Today, however, I was "out & about" and, low and behold, I had a crash! When I tried to reopen the app, it "started to open, then closed," just as you experienced. However, I tried to open it twice more and the third time was a charm. Just to double check… Did you try opening it several times?

Yes, I did try opening it several times, and that didn't help me. I went online today, and used vyrso last thing before going offline, opening it at reading page. Since I've been offline, it's continued to work.
BUT I tried to send my log about 3 times. Each time the app closed. Didn't get as far as giving me the option to change the email address.
As a reserve option the logos app works fine for reading the books I would read on vyrso - only I need to make sure that I have the books I want downloaded to logos app.
Incidentally I've introduced a friend to logos app. He wanted an Albanian Bible in electronic form that he can use in church. We downloaded it on to the logos app on iPad, and then realised it would be even more convenient on iPhone. I'm wondering about introducing his (English) wife to vyrso. He doesn't have enough English to use the English resources. His use of iPhone has convinced me that it would be worth getting an iPhone (when I can get one at a price I choose to afford to pay!) so I can always have reading material, and language apps, in my pocket.

Today it went on strike again. I'd left it in reading view and it duly opened there. I went into history via the arrow on the reading page and it didn't respond. So I went into the history ribbon, which also didn't respond. I tried to go from there to library. No joy. Nor would it go back to reading page. So I closed it down and it wouldn't open. Killed trhe app. Did a powerdown. No joy.... Maybe we'll experience resurrection a fter Easter??

Happy Easter, Alabama! Is resurrection in the air for my vyrso app? I went online today so it's working again for the moment. I think I may have found the problem. In another app I got a message to say iPad was very low on memory. So I killed about a dozen apps, just left things like logos and skype and vyrso. Now we shall see if that solves the problem.... Shall report either next time it crashes, or if it has stopped crashing for a few days...

Vyrso app, resurrected Easter Sunday, still alive today, Tuesday! I think it was an ipad memory problem as history was misfunctioning in vyrso, before demise, in logos app AND in Kindle app, and then I got the low memory message from ipad. shall try downloading a log, next time I am online, and see if it will do it now.

I tried opening mine last night in while in a class and again today. It crashes every time. I'm not sure what is going on.

Dave- Welcome to the forums! Sorry you are having troubles.
What version of the app are you using (are you up-to-date)? Has it always been crashing, or is this recent? What device (w/ specs) are you using? Are you also using Logos 4? If so, what sort of note / highlighting files do you have (i.e. are they very large)?

Resurrected vyrso online Friday. St5ill working today, Sunday. Wheel turns very slowly when I turn the page. Could part of the problem be that I have downloaded all my vyrso books and lots of logos books? Should I get rid of those I'm not likely to read in the immediate future?

An interesting thought… I don't think so, but I don't know for sure. Did I ask before how much free space you have on your iPad?

About 18 g free, 10 used. Am back online for a refresher. Vyrso wont send logs or connect to forums. Hv connected via logos app.

I don't think the number of books downloaded is an issue then. Do you know how to locate the file size of the app (which would also include the downloaded resources)? In your iOS "Settings", click "general," then "usage." The apps will be listed according to file size.
