What would be the best layout for a devotional used each morning and evening. I've seen the one on the homepage but is not the one I use. Can the one on the homepage be replaced with the one I use most often. thanks

I thought I could tell you to change the priorities of the calendar devotional books in your library would change the devotional that shows. However, I tested it and it doesn't change the home page - I tried closing and restarting Logos 4 with no effect. I'd classify this as a bug.
This is right, if you prioritise them it will work; but it won't be updated until tomorrow [:)]
Wouldn't hitting F5 refresh the home page instead of waiting for the next day after changing priorities?
Right you are! So obvious but I didn't think of it [:D]
I am not understanding this thread. But I have questions about the devotionals. I have about 20 devotionals and I have put them in a folder in my favorites. But when I open a devotional, it does not come up on the current day, rather on the day that was current when I added it to favorites.
So how can I display devotionals so that when I click on one, it will automatically come up on the current day?
This works! Thanks. I do really like the homepage, but want to customize it a bit and this gives me a start!

What works? I tried the F5 thing and it did not refresh for me. Can you explain what you did?
Thanks

That would be really useful. I don't think there is a way to do it currently, but why not post it as a request in the Suggestions forum?
I stand corrected. Mark Barnes has explained how to do this below.
Thanks Rosie, I shall. I am surprised however that this is not doable in L4. It was doable in L3 and seems obvious that is should be in L4.

I'm sorry it didn't work for you Mark. Here are the steps I performed:
1) Opened the library
2) Prioritized the devotionals in my library
3) Closed the library
4) called up the homepage
5) Pressed F5
When the page refreshed, the devotionals at the top of my prioritized list were in the blue boxes of my homepage, in the order that I had prioritized them.
I hope you find a solution soon.
As you may know, Logos 4 was a complete rewrite from the ground up on a new platform. Tthere are several features that have not yet been reimplemented in Logos 4. This is evidently one of the little ones which didn't make the formal list, but I'm sure they're keeping track of the little things internally too. It's good you brought it to their attention, though. I'm sure they won't intentionally leave it out for long.
Thanks Esther
I see what happens here...it does work for one or two devotionals. But all the devotionals are not seen. It is a neat trick however. Still I wish to just be able to click from a list of devotionals and get the one I want to appear.
It works. I've been wondering the same thing. I have two favorite devotionals and after prioritizing them, and closing the library F5 while on the home page and Presto! Both my favorite devotionals were there. Thanks for this.
While I have the floor, I have the MP manuels and they show in the Passage Guide, Compare Versions.
However, I can't find this option. It doesn't show up on the ADD tab. I tried creating a new Passage Guide and it wasn't available there there either.

It is there in 4.0a RC1, so it should be available in the very near future (i have seen mentioned in this forum that 4.0a is expected to release in a week or two). I don't have SR7 installed any more, so i cannot verify in it.

Hi April. You can "have the floor" any time you want by starting a new thread [:)] It's usually best to do that when you have a new unrelated question, as your question might be overlooked otherwise. People do eventually tire of going back to keep reading old posts if there's continuing banter on them. And your good question might have gotten lost in the banter. However, since you did get my attention...
I've got SR7, and I can't reproduce what you're seeing. "Compare Versions" is already in the default Passage Guide (it comes under the "Interesting Words" section, and it appears (greyed out, because it's already in the guide) on my Add dropdown menu, along with all the other Passage Guide sections. When I go into any other guide I've created, as long as it's a Bible Reference guide and not a Bible Word guide, and start the search, the Add menu shows up and Compare Versions is on it.
What happens when you go to Guides > Make a New Guide Template and make sure "Bible Reference" is selected in the upper right corner? Do you see "Compare Versions" in the list on the left? Then what happens if you click on it to add it to your custom guide template and save that template with a new name and then open that guide and run a search in it?
I have ver SR7(4.0.3.3272)
Under Interesting Words, I have SermonCentral.com. No Compare Versions anywhere....default passage guide, not greyed out or anything. It's just not there. I'm connected to the internet so should have the latest version available, I'd think...
Sorry about not starting a new thread. I see Previous topic and next topic but not new thread.
April,
What Base Package do you have? - this may be one of those tools which is not available in every package: see the bottom of: http://www.logos.com/comparison
Ah, I see. You're a newbie to forums in general. Sorry for not realizing that. In order to post a new thread in a forum you need to go back to the forum level, not from within an individual thread. To get back there from here, click on one of the links up near the top of the page:
Click on "Logos 4" if this is the forum in which you want to post it, or "Home" if you want to go back to the Home page and pick a different forum to post in (e.g., Suggestions, or General)
Once you are inside a Forum looking at the listing of threads in it, you will find a link at the upper right saying "Write a New Post" - click that and you're off and running!
If you create the favourite with the resource open (by dragging the tab to the favourites panel, or by clicking Add in favourites), it will create a link to the place where the resource is currently opened.
However, if you create the favourite by dragging the unopened resource from the library to the favourites panel, it will subsequently open at the current day.
Thanks Mark. That works perfectly!
I have a layout for devotional reading which included a devotion, my favorite bible, and a commentary pane.
I want the devo to open to "today" when I open that layout, but it is already open to a specific day when I create or save the layout. Any way to work around that? Thanks!
I don't know about a workaround per se Steve, but if you click into your devotional and then hit the home button on your keyboard once, it will jump to today's date. A second click of home will take you to the cover page.
Neat! I didn't know about that [Home] trick for devotionals. But hitting Home a second time doesn't seem to go to the cover page for me. Even Ctrl+Home doesn't work. Is something broken (I'm using 4.0d Beta 4)? What version are you using?
In My utmost for his highest it jumps to the days date, a second press jumps to the beginning and then right back to today's date.
In On This Day it only jumps to the beginning. But a single PG-DOWN appears to jump to today's date.
I'll have to work this out later.
Daily Help just goes to the cover page when you click the home button on the keyboard. Page Down does nothing.
I had tried both Morning and Evening and Amazing Grace - 360 Inspiring Hymn Stories for Daily Devotions, and both had this behavior you describe, so I figured it was a universal problem. But indeed, On This Day goes to the beginning on pressing Home once. I have yet to find one that goes to today's date on pressing Home a first time and then to the top after pressing it a second time. It's weird that PgDown goes to today's date if you're at the top of the file.
This random inconsistency needs to be addressed.
Ok, these are all of the type:calendar devotional's that I have in my system and their behavior broken down.
Scroll to any place, strike HOME once and wait a moment till todays' date appears:
Scroll to any place, strike HOME and go to the title/first page. A single strike of PAGE DOWN takes you to todays' date.
Scroll to any place, Strike HOME to go to the first/title page. PAGE DOWN acts just like any book, one page at a time.
It is terribly inconsistent. I prefer the behavior of the first group in which a single strike of the HOME key takes you to today's reading.

What was that you said further up in the thread about how pressing Home a second time would take you to the title page? Does that work for some of the titles in the first group but not all of them? (If so, it's yet another breakdown.) I think thought ought to be some keyboard way of getting to the title page. If not Home a second time, then Ctrl+Home.
This should probably be reported as a "BUG: ... " so that Melissa will notice it.

Yeah, it's probably a bug.

I've reported this, adding all the Calendar Devotionals to your list under their appropriate navigational behavior. Thanks.
