Poor Sound Quality

Has anyone else noticed a drastic drop in sound quality when comparing a Proclaim transcoded file and the original video file? We use video for music as we do not have a band and the transcoding has made the songs best part of useless in terms of sound quality.

Is there anything I can do to fix this? I have tried different formats and various quality settings within each video format to no avail. Please help as I am about to scrap Proclaim as sound quality is very important to us.

Help is greatly appreciated.

I can look into the audio options used by our transcoding service. In the meantime you could use the local file option as a workaround.

Just checked it - and as you would know, it has fixed my sound quality issue! It makes the process for moving files around a little chunky, but it's far from impossible.

I prepare the presentation on a different machine to that which is used as the final presentation machine. Just to clarify, does that mean I need to re-insert the local videos on the presentation machine so it knows were they are or can I set up a duplicate directory structure to hold a copy of the media in so it can see it there?

Proclaim will look for that media in the same file location that it was uploaded from in the original machine.

So, if your video lives in C:\ProclaimVideo\ on your first computer, putting it in C:\ProclaimVideo\ on the other machine should work just fine.

I really appreciate the help here guys - I have fixed what I need to and all is sounding great. Thank you.

One issue though, when I have gone to presentation computer, instead of a video being put over a black background (so if the clip is smaller than the window, it is black in color) on the presentation computer it appears to have a grey background. The strange thing is that on the working computer, the background is still showing as black.

How do I change this back to black on the presentation computer?

The only time I can think there would be a grey background is if the local content cannot be found on that computer. Are you able to play the video on the presenting computer? The paths to the file will need to match or be updated to point to the local file on each system.

All the videos play perfectly, just with a grey background outside of the video clip.

I just checked and it does the same thing on both of my laptops.

by the way - I'm running Macs all round. All less than a year old and all the max spec. 2 x MacBook Pro's (13" & 17") and 27" iMac desktop with 27" cinema display. Just in case that matters...

The audio of transcoded videos still sound pretty bad, similar to a stereo mp3 file at 96kbps / 22khz, very lossy sounding.

I wish there was an option to enable/force "higher quality" for the transcoding this would help for when we present slideshows where we put a background music track. For our worship loops, having higher quality audio is mostly not necessary.

I realize as a workaround we can keep a file local and solve that issue but it kind of defeats the purpose of having a "cloud" based presentation system.
