"Delete" = "bouncing" reply text box

On the FaithLife Study Bible beta page:

When in "More" I "delete" (successfully) a post THEN immediately again try to "reply"  I cannot.

Instead I see a "bouncing" reply box -- vertically moving up & down on my monitor--until I hit the "refresh" button, at which time it apparently resets, ie. is back to normal stable position. [this is a "neat" party trick but a little unsettlingly when first encountered].

    Hi Steve,

What OS and browser are you using?  Thanks!

    Hi Steve,

What OS and browser are you using?  Thanks!

Not Steve, but I can consistenly recreate this behaviour on Win 7 Home Edition, 32 Bit running Chrome.

It's not restricted to the FSB but happens as well in Community Notes elsewhere (tested ESV as well as Metaxas' Bonhoeffer to have a non-bible-indexed resource ).

Step 1 Add a Note (Or use a not-replied-to note from another user, such as Phil 4:2 from MJ Smith or mine in Phil 4:5 - it doesn't matter whether one replies to oneself or to another user)

Step 2 Reply to that Note (in my tests it worked only in the first reply - not with a second reply e.g. in Phil 4:1)

    Step 3 Delete the reply

Step 4 Hit Reply in the first note again to give you an edit box.

This edit box will bounce, but the Community Notes pane is not gone bad - you may now "like" the first note or even add another note etc: all is cool while edit box bounces happily. If you add another, this is sorted below, thus it bounces along [H]

"Bounce" means the edit box is being drawn and in the process the box height repeatedly increases and collapses. It draws a divider line, then the horizontal top line of the box and the vertical lines, thus the box is seemingly growing downwards. When the bottom line is drawn, the box collapses and starts drawing again.

If you try, you may even click into the box and enter text there. It never draws the Cancel/Reply buttons below the box to actually post the reply or cancel it.

To stop, one just needs to select another verse in the resource, which makes a Community Notes pane refresh.

EDIT: I reposted this to PC Beta forum http://community.logos.com/forums/t/48540.aspx as it is not restricted to the FSB and there maybe some users with other OS / browser combinations may chime in.

    Coming to think of it,

    1. I never bothered even checking the version of Chrome, as (I assume) it updates automatically without the disturbances like the IE and Firefox have. Now I did and thus know I'm running ver 18.0.1025.162 m as well
    2. what difference would the browser make to a bug in L4? If it was biblia, I could check with IE 8 or 9 or with Firefox, but I always thought that L4 uses browser-independent graphic code?

So we can assume the bug "works" on Win 7 regardless of 32 or 64 bit. Vista or XP anybody? Mac guys?

    Thanks MB.Nick,

I hadn't realized this was a Logos bug but assumed it was a Faithlife bug - sorry for the browser confusion.  Thanks for reporting it in the Logos Beta forums - we'll report the issue to our Development team.

    Kevin,

my bad - rereading Steve's description I'm no longer sure he describes this in L4 or biblia or wherever - I too soon assumed he meant L4 since I had seen exactly this in L4 before. Now I just checked and can replicate the same behaviour in biblia.com - using the Chrome browser and using IE 8 as well.

Maybe interesting for the developers: in IE 8, before the bouncing starts, it asks me to confirm an error message sent from the website: "Out of memory in line 23"

I was on the FAithLife (Study Bible) BETA page using a Chrome Browser on Windows 7 Pro 64 bit O.S.

Ah, on the Faithlife page! I can replicate that and have Beloved happily bouncing beneath Philana right now:

    Steve,

can you still replicate this? As far as I can see, it seems Logos has fixed it (maybe in course of Beta 7 rollout) in L4 Win, on Faithlife and Biblia.

Apparently not, "Something" appears to have been fixed.

[note: I have not yet switched to beta 7, but then I never tried to access the FLSB beta page from Logos4 , either].

    Thanks

    .
